The Build
The idea of the build came from having a beautiful Apple Cinema Display I used to use with my PowerMac G4s. It's been sitting unused for a few years now due to the proprietary Apple Display Connector (ADC). Basically all I needed was a new desktop and a DVI to ADC adapter in order to use with a generic graphics card.
This build is a Haswell spare parts rig based around a Asrock Z97 ITX motherboard, a Core i3 CPU, and a GeForce GTX 550 Ti graphics card. It's a very standard install based on UniBeast and MultiBeast post-installation only.
The Installation
BIOS Setup
I'll edit this post with screenshots when I can- the settings are pretty much Optimized Defaults and reboot.
Making the UniBeast USB Thumb Drive
Use the tonymacx86 guide UniBeast: Install OS X Sierra on Any Supported Intel-based PC. Note: your USB Thumb drive needs to have 7.63 GB of free space to build the UniBeast installation thumb drive. Otherwise, you'll need a 16GB USB thumb drive which is a better size so you can load the following applications for use in the post installation phase:
MultiBeast for Sierra which you can probably put on a 8GB USB thumb drive, but that's about it
EFI Mounter V3
KextBeast
Clover Configurator for fine tuning
Installation Notes
This particular Asrock motherboard requires a special fix to use Clover's UEFI mode otherwise the SSD may not be visible as a boot option. The fix is to log into Clover's UEFI Shell and manually select Clover's .efi boot file. The method is expertly outlined here.
Summary
In summary, glad to be able to use this amazing Apple monitor with it's horrible proprietary Apple Display Connector!
