Hi guys, my system won't even pass PCI configuration sometimes stuck on RTC men issue...strange.

I tried many methods but non worked ...can someone please explain to me a good way to boot installation?
I also tried to install 10.11.5 on SSD from macbook pro and moved to my PC but getting boot fails

That's Haswell right? Any of the X99 guides on the site could be a good starting point. I doubt you need that aforementioned kernel patch, but, are you using npci=0x2000 or npci=0x3000 for boot options? That got me to boot with my pre-broadwell-e build.

Hey, just adding that I got the 6950X (Broadwell E) / ASUS x99 Deluxe II / 980ti installed with barely any issues. I followed a mix of x99 guides to get a 5930K working, then used a patch from the wonderful Brumbaer to allocate more memory during the PCI ConfigurationBegin phase, then it booted right up.

I'm not much one for documenting but what I essentially did was...

1) NOT used a USB stick. I installed El Capitan directly to an SSD, from a real mac. Installed clover on it. Booted directly to it in new Machine.

2) Updated VoodooTCSync with a 19 for the core setting.

3) Added brumbaer's patch for 5960X (search it on google, I'm not sure what the cross-posting/crediting rules are)...

4) Boot!

What isn't working is my USB 3.0 ports, a crazy TCP/IP lag, onboard ethernet is much slower than WiFi, and I'm using FakeSMC, NullCPUPowerManagement, and I'm sure I'm not getting the geek bench score that I probably should be. I've spent way too many days trying to get this working and I actually have to get some work done so I'll probably wait to tweak it for performance. Just happy to see so many cores plowing through my compiling tasks!

Again, thanks to the Hackintosh community, you guys rock!

will i have to change anything to make it work for 6850k? besides the core setting "11" in voodootscsync?
thanks

Is there any benefit in installing direct to SSD? other than time?
does it alleviate boot errors in some way?
i'm going to go get a SATA/USB cable/converter today to see if it helps
by installing direct to SSD from Macbook Pro

If you have Haswell-E working already, you shouldn't need anything different except voodootsync update to make it work.

re: SSD, so I haven't seen my issue mentioned much in these guides because it seems people either have no USB 3.0 issues, or they have an issue thats 100% resolved, or 100% broken. Mine, are intermittent, from reboot to reboot! Sometimes all my usb ports work, other times, just usb2.0, other times none.

This is a problem because, I'd be booting Clover with the USB stick, and it would hang in the weirdest places, and it turns out because the USB port that its plugged into would just disappear. Totally unpredictable, and looks like a kernel panic, pci-config, or any other ailment. Going the pre-installed SSD route got me booting consistently and I couldn't have completed my installation without it!

interesting. i might try and inject the voodootscsync into my existing yosemite osx SSD (from previous build)
and see if that boots in the new machine.
i have a new ssd aswell, so atleast i can try both options, obviously editing the existing would be way more time efficient if it works.

From my previous post #34, I subsequently did a 'normal' App Store upgrade of the installed and running OS X Public Beta to the most recent beta release and all went according to ... Apple. Update proceeded as normal and up and running with no issues. We'll see what happens when Sierra comes out...

Hello all,

back and finally shopping ok

(for the ppl interested in equipments as power supplies or else): perfomance-pc offers 10% discount for the week of the 4th july, which is always interesting...

So my config:
ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME (in japan it is cheaper than a deluxe II, dont understand this difference)
Intel Core i7 6950X
F4-3000C14Q2-128GVKD (yeahhhh 128GB baby)
2 x MZVPV512HDGL on PCI (so need to manage it well to boot on it and making them raid 0)
STRIX-GTX980TI-DC3OC-6GD5-GAMING (and 2 in few months)
Corsair AX1200i (cheaper also than a HX1200i, dont understand that too)
Corsair AIR 540

and for the fun (but not important for the hackintosh's installation):

complete EK-WB waterdcooling + monsoon
1 rad 140 push-pull+shrugs and 1 rad 280 push-pull+shugs and rad 360 push-pull
and 2 x 450s pumps 24v
CPU, GPU, the complete motherboard, the 8 memories and the 2 M2 are watercooled
with hard tubes, fujipoly paste pads and paste and nano particles liquid

The system completely OC (6950x@4,5 etc etc) at full use it produces 650W (TDP)
with my system WC with a delta t of 7,5°c and a flow of 2GPM at 1300 rpm i can easily dissipate 950W and at 1800rpm: 1200W
everything managed by an aqauaero 6 XT

PS: delta t= temperature inside the case - temperature of the water

So hope that rendering of 360° videos in 12 x 4K cams and photogrametry will be ok,
if not: adding another STRIX (but dont know if it is easy to use SLI in hack!)

photos and most important: a topic will come in few weeks if ppl are interested to see it and performance possible on a hack

if any advices, please feel free i am aware

PS2: YES it costs a lot but it is my only tool to work and between a macbook pro 15" and this beast :p
the same a mac pro ultimate with 2 D700: i dont think it ill be able to fight (if all the hack is fully OK)

cheers

Hi all,

I have a 5960X / ASUS X99-A running 10.10.5 using Multibeast / Chimera and would love to drop a 6950X in there at some point and move to El Cap, which leads me to my first question;

How does one go about changing core-setting in VoodooTCSync?

It appears it could be as simple as opening up the VoodooTSCSync.kext in Textwrangler and changing the following lines from:

<key>IOCPUNumber</key>
<integer>15</integer>

to:

<key>IOCPUNumber</key>
<integer>19</integer>

Would this be correct?
