Hello Axe.

So if i understand well, u didn't continue to use the 6950x and returned it (cause many pbs as USB3 ...)
and now you work with a 5930K?
I am little bit lost on the different posts and dont know which one is used right now... ;)

I am preparing to buy a great hack of OCing (5960x + Asus X99 WS)
but if there is any possibilities that soon the 6950x can be rock stable... Maybe i will think about this buying!
From what I've seen any USB 3/USB in general issues are going to be more from El Capitan than the CPU. I researched this and experienced these issues on my x79 build and never got USB 3 working but I've gone back to Yosemite on that build for now. Sounds like the 6950x MIGHT be as simple as a swap, if you've you've got a successful 5960x build. Which is still a bit hairy still, but definitely doable.

I'm on the 6950X, stable, now with USB ports enabled and everything working, afaik.
.
THX a lot axe, you change the "deal" ;)
I mean i was ready to buy a 5960x + X99-E WS, but definitely going to 6950x + a ROG STRIX X99 or DELUXE II (will see)
anyway more expensive but much great for a long term using and also concerning OC stable using (4,4GHz is not so unbelievable)
and i bought already a Watercooling KIT X360 from EKWB, for the CPU
:)

again thx to you and to the community!

I will post my configuration (and step by step how to)
I think it could be useful!

Don't forget to make sure your BIOS is updated to handle Broadwell-e BEFORE you install the chip! The Gigabyte x99p-SLI that I returned couldn't boot into the BIOS to allow an update and it didn't have the Q-FLASH-PLUS technology that allows no-cpu/ram usb-based upgrade so it was a waste.

The Asus X99-deluxe II didn't need a bios update, worked right out of the box. I asked the staff at Microcenter for a board that was plug-and-play and they recommended that one.

ok thx again,

I will do the same, considering the money that i will give in the same shop, i will ask to have the last bios (i will verify on the net before but they sell so many per day that it is not so possible that they will have very old bios which not manage the Broadwell-E), many for me it is 15 to 20 per day!!! Welcome to Japan ;)

Anyway I will take the Asus X99 A II which is almost the same than the Deluxe II for 45% cheaper: same alimentations and components for OC possibiilites...
(just Wifi less, and also no bluetooth, and dont manage the TBolt 3 but the version 2 yes...)
i will manage to live without those options :D

Go with the II Gen Boards from ASUS. They support the new CPUs out of the Box.

Hey, just adding that I got the 6950X (Broadwell E) / ASUS x99 Deluxe II / 980ti installed with barely any issues. I followed a mix of x99 guides to get a 5930K working, then used a patch from the wonderful Brumbaer to allocate more memory during the PCI ConfigurationBegin phase, then it booted right up.

I'm not much one for documenting but what I essentially did was...

1) NOT used a USB stick. I installed El Capitan directly to an SSD, from a real mac. Installed clover on it. Booted directly to it in new Machine.

2) Updated VoodooTCSync with a 19 for the core setting.

3) Added brumbaer's patch for 5960X (search it on google, I'm not sure what the cross-posting/crediting rules are)...

4) Boot!

What isn't working is my USB 3.0 ports, a crazy TCP/IP lag, onboard ethernet is much slower than WiFi, and I'm using FakeSMC, NullCPUPowerManagement, and I'm sure I'm not getting the geek bench score that I probably should be. I've spent way too many days trying to get this working and I actually have to get some work done so I'll probably wait to tweak it for performance. Just happy to see so many cores plowing through my compiling tasks!

Again, thanks to the Hackintosh community, you guys rock!
will the patch work for 6850k?
im stalled at apple logo ive tried everything i can think of (boot flags, bootloaders, bios etc etc)

The patch was for just bumping the memory space in case you had PCI mapping issues (which you'd experience if you were in Verbose mode and saw it get stuck at the PCI-ConfigurationBegin phase). If you're not in Verbose mode (-v), I'd add that flag to see where you get to. Otherwise, there have been a few times where I needed to boot in Single User mode, then 'exit' at the console to get in. I've had to do that maybe twice out of 12 or so reboots.

Also, the PCI stuff is independent of the specific chip model. I think Broadwell-e probably changed some mapping parameters, but I don't think it would vary within the product line. So, it should work for any of the >= 68XX/69XX chips.

Did someone get joy with Powermanagement / Sleep with the Broadwell E's?

I need advice, again, before buying all components
Anyway i have already the 6950x which is pretty good 4,5@1,35v BUT stable on strong WC at Delta T: 8°C

So my 3 questions:

1/ i want to put a Intel 750 to not have any pb of rendering during calculation
So as a M2 (which is recognized for installation), will it be ok to install it W/o any tricky thing?

2/ A normal mac pro has 2 DX00 video cards, if i understand, on it: one is used for calculation and the others for managing the screen(s) if i put 2 video cards like 980Ti Asus Gaming, will i have a multi-task (sharing 50/50 for rendering by SLI?), or it will be as a mac pro? or worst ONE only (and the other useful under W-10?

3/ about DDR4: can i buy 3200MHz ( Trident Z for example) without pb of OC them?
i mean if i understood well a hack OC is ok just by upgrading multiplicator
so can i use them on the hack on asynchronous way like a normal PC?

Thx again, i will let you know when everything will be operationnal

Not sure about the dual gpu but I just installed 10.11.5 on my system that has two Intel 750 Nvme and 32 GB of Trident Z. Only problem is that I havent figured out how to get the internet up. lol
