Testing Thread: Skylake Platform in OS X

Sorry to change topics slightly here but tonymacx86, any particular reason you chose the z170x ud5 th over the gaming 7? They both seem to be at the same price point more or less but the gaming 7 has one more m2 slot at the expense of 1 fewer thunderbolt port. I am looking to do a dual boot with windows 7 for gaming. In your opinion do you think that both motherboards will have equal support of OS X eventually? I am thinking of taking advantage of some of these holiday sales currently going on and making sure everything is in working order. Then transitioning to OS X for everyday computing.

Unless there is something I am not seeing like easier support for ethernet or audio in which case the difference are so close that I would go with the ud5 th instead and carry on with my build. Just wanted to ask the question and I can't pm you yet.

You should download config.plist that tonymacx earlier have attached and replace the default config.plist (please do before backup).

Hello, I do not find the config.plist of tonymac, where to download?

I need to say that my "Mackintosh" is running like a charm :)

And thanks to Gigabyte EU1 beta bios received from support today i now have 32GB RAM.

Some Photos :)

Matey, What SSD are you using in your system? I have the same board and a 950 pro but the NVME drives are still a no go.

For those that want HWMonitor now;

“vonmolk” over on IM has recompiled the CPUSensors plugin and has a link to the revised set of HWMonitor files.

see post # 327 However, Use at your own risk.

I have installed these on my GA Z170-HD3 with the i5-6500 and they work for me.

This is my system running Prime95. Note on my system the PCH Die sensor is stuck at 127C so I shut it off for the plots.

Again, if you play with these files, insure that you are doing it in a manner that you can recover from if your effort borks.

Good modding,

How did you manage to install Intel Power Gadget?
On GA Z170X Gaming 3 with I7 6700k I can't install the latest version.

I started with a search “Intel Power Gadget on Skylake”. I found this; http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...97-guide-el-capitan-skylake-h170n-wifi-6.html

Check out posting # 51… I then ran the installer for each of the three packages (clicked on them).

And then found the “Intel Power Gadget” folder in the Applications folder.

This is from the user —cj—, and is not my value add.

I am not a great fan of the Intel Power Gadget as the HWMonitor is much better suited to my needs in hardware system integration.

Thanks :thumbup:

The GTX 970 is malfunctioning with nv_disable = 1, with nvda_drv = 1 black screen. How to solve?

Just try nvda_drv=1
without nv_disable...

Test number 1
nvda_drv = 1 black screen

Test number 2
nv_disable = 1 malfunctions
