Ah the fun of OSX! I have run through your laptop guide as well now and made the unibeast changes as per. I also worked through the flags and have still not had any luck. I am still getting stuck as per my previous pictures.

Hoping someone with more understanding of what it is telling me can help!!

Not above begging here!!

If you're getting the same pictures as #9, you didn't follow the guide linked in post #10.

If the situation is changed, post updated photos.

If it is not different, follow the guide I linked in post #10.

Hello again RehabMan,

Okay, I redid my USB and followed the instructions exactly as you had outlined in Post #10. I have attached a screenshot of the Verbose that I received and where it err'd out.

Any feedback you can provide from that is greatly appreciated.

You should read the guide carefully. Clearly you have a dual-GPU setup with Nvidia. Requires use of nv_disable=1 kernel flag. It is covered in the guide.

Also, you forgot to fill out your profile/signature as requested in the guide...

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

System: manufacturer/model + bootloader(Clover/Chameleon/Chimera)
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s (Clover)
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

I apologize again. I know that I am showing my noob-ness here. Believe me, I really am trying to learn on of this on the go but as many before me frustration can play a huge factor. Having said that, I know that not helping you doesn't help me either!

I am heading back to the drawing board and will read all that I can. Also, my signature should now reflect the Dell Laptop that I am working on.

Lastly, I know that I need to go back and learn more about all the possible flags; I tried the nv_disable=1 and I got a touch farther...it actually changed to a grey garbled screen, appeared split into 4 with the spinning wheel and hung there.

Again, thank you RehabMan for all your assistance; I know I have been a pain!

---------------------
until it shows in my signature;
Laptop Setup
System: Dell 15z (5523) Bios A05 (Clover)
CPU: i7-3537U/HM77 @ 2ghz
Graphics: HD4000/NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M - 1366 x 768

Try different ig-platform-id values. Yours should work with 0x1660003. This guide is for a 17" laptop with more resolution and is using 0x1660004 so you probably cannot use the same value. Your description matches the expected result when you use 0x1660004 with a display that is single-link as is typical with 1366x768 displays.

Good Morning,

I just thought I would write back and thank you for your help...I type this from my Mac! I think as I continue to learn about this whole process I will also create a post explaining my process on this system as I think it could be valuable for others.

I was finally able to get to the installer by using;
'nv_disable=1 dart=0'

My final (hopefully for a while) question...I know that I need to include these arguments in order to get the system to boot. Do I need to add these to the bootloader config file? If so, where do I find this?

Thanks again RehabMan, your help was invaluable.

EDIT...figured out the flag issue!

RehabMan,

I am diving into the 'DSDT' creation for my MB. While I am learning about this I am still at the initial Multibeast stage and simply(?) trying to get the system somewhat stable (not rebooted from install at this point), am I able to use Easybeast option and inject my boot flags and Display ID, etc, into the Boot PLIST

Thanks

Read post #1.

I have the exact same Dell laptop and I am sooooo sick of Windows8.1 that I wish I had never bought this system (only reason was to run one game when traveling), but I have found myself using this laptop much more often than my desktop system and can't afford to buy a new(ish) MacBook, so I am very happy to find that someone has done the Hackintosh thing to this model of laptop.

I will read all available info from this site, as well as your guide, before I attempt to install MacOSX on my Dell 17R, plus I will buy an additional hdd, or ssd to install to, without needing to disturb my existing Windows8.1 installation. Thanks for this guide and please keep adding to it, as you find additional steps to improve the functionality and features, or compatibility.

Edit: One question that comes to mind after reading a bit: If the BIOS is altered to turn off the discrete GPU card, when using a dual boot setup, the GPU will be disabled for both OSes, correct? Unless I go into the BIOS before each boot into Windows and change it back to enable the discrete video card. Sorry, I guess I answered my own obvious question.
