Clover patch for external display

Your config.plist looks correct and has the VGA patch.

Note that VGA patching for HD3000 has always been unreliable... and perhaps worse in Yosemite.

Procedure for using VGA:
- plug in the device, turn it on, make sure it is set to VGA input
- SysPrefs->Displays, hold Option, click "Detect Displays"

If it doesn't work, it is probably a compatibility problem with the specific device.

It is best to:
- disable the VGA patch in config.plist
- carry/use an HDMI->VGA adapter

Please note that the VGA patch will only work if you have vanilla AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext installed. If you've been messing with patched kexts on-disk, don't expect Clover config.plist patches designed for vanilla kexts to work.

to check of my hdmi port was working i connected my laptop to my hdmi tv. it was working fine(sound also)
but the weird thing is that hdmi is set to disabled in the config.plist and vga still enabled.
so yeah is this normal?

thanx

As expected. The "VGA patch" enables both HDMI/HDMI-audio and VGA. The HDMI patch enables only HDMI-audio and omits VGA support.

Use an HDMI->VGA adapter.
HP 8470p don't have HDMI port. I can use Displayport -> HDMI, or only Displayport -> VGA to make it work? Please help

Use DP->VGA adapter.

It dose not work. I have a HP Display port to VGA adapter. HP brand. On the 8470p this adapter dose not work. You could dual boot and make a windows partion as I did. Poor fix but it works.

Also ebay dose sell small doggles that convert DP to HDMI Female and then you can use a HDMI to VGA converter. converter is the key word, others will not work.

Find one that is self powered like mine. If interested I'll go find the make and model for you.

I have t HP 8460p where the adapter dose work. There are post out there that list ways to inject VGA on the HD4000 but not after 10.8 or newer.

My 8470p running 10.10.2 sees a display with the DP to VGA adapter but has a black screen or no output.
If I manage to fix it, ill post it here.

Must be a difference in adapter. I have no use for VGA tech, but there have been reports of successful use of adapters.

Note: 'does' not 'dose'.
