z77x-up5 + HD4000 + DVI->Thunderbolt adapter + 2560x1440

Is it possible these components working together?

Gigabyte z77x-up5 th motherboard
HD4000 graphics card (onchip @ 3770k)
Dual DVI ->Thunderbolt Apple adapter (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/B/mini-displayport-to-dvi-adapter?fnode=53)
Asus PB278Q @ 2560x1440
MacOSX 10.8.2

I have been reading about EFI injection in several threads, but do not completely understand what I need to do. So far I have had no luck it getting it to work (blank screen only).

Note: Using the DVI port, I do get 1920x1080 resolution, but of course I really like to have 2560x1440 with my new monitor

Can anyone help with some guidelines to make it work?

What is this DVI to TB adapter you speak of? I have never heard of one so I am very interested.

That ASUS monitor supports DP so I sugest you try using that over DVI, DP supports the full resolution of that display.

As far as I know, there is no Thunderbolt-to-DisplayPort adapter. If there is, could you provide a link?

Bummer the Apple mini-Displayport-> DVI adapter only support up to 1920x1080 - and not 2560x1440. What adapter solution are everyone else using when using the Thunderbolt ports?

Since your monitor has DP, use a mDP to DP cable.

Why spend over $100 when his monitor has a DP port, the mDP to DP is under $10

Missed that, my mistake. This was what I purchased to run my dual-link dvi 30"Cinema display with similar resolution.

It works! I only needed was a new cable costing a lot closer to 10$ than 100$ . I'm not sure if the injection I did in the bootloader, was the reason it just worked, though (see my current /Extra/org.chameleon.boot.plist below). Awesome with the additional screen real estate :-D
