That didn't work:You probably failed to set a partition active. Most BIOS require an active partition before the HDD is considered bootable.
You can set an active partition with fdisk.
Code:
Brians-MBP:~ brian$ diskutil list
/dev/disk0 (internal, physical):
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: GUID_partition_scheme *128.0 GB disk0
1: EFI EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1
2: Apple_HFS MacOS 127.2 GB disk0s2
3: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 650.0 MB disk0s3
/dev/disk1 (external, physical):
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: FDisk_partition_scheme *32.0 GB disk1
1: DOS_FAT_32 CLOVER EFI 209.7 MB disk1s1
2: Apple_HFS install_osx 31.8 GB disk1s2
Brians-MBP:~ brian$ sudo fdisk440 -e /dev/rdisk0
Password:
fdisk440: could not open MBR file /usr/standalone/i386/boot0: No such file or directory
Enter 'help' for information
