Im building a server for business use,..mostly virtualisation.

Just curious if its possible to make a virtual machine with this hardware and install osx mountain lion. Since im waiting for the new hardware and support coming in mid 2013, i can try working directly on the machine itself,..if not possible its okay,..but could be fun :)

The hardware:

- Supermicro Barebone SYS-5017C-MTF 1U ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816101385)
- Intel Xeon 1230v2 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117288 )
- 4x WD Red 3 TB ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236344 )
- kingston 2x8 GB hynix, ecc ram, unbuffereDell Perc 6/i kit (can do with passtrough ofc)

On the machine, mostly photoshop and dreamweaver is used,..so not too heavy stuff. Mostly webdesign, sometimes a bit of print/photoediting.

The system will be built on ESXi 5.

Question is,...will i be able to get this system working; OSX 10.8 in a virtual machine?

OSX as the guest? You're probably in for a lot of hurt or disappointment.

Your "hardware" is going to be the VMWare "virtual hardware" which probably isn't OSX compatible.

Basically,..i log in on the server and use my pc as a 'thin client',..so i use the virtual machine. I guess it means what you said,..as client. I was afraid of that already :)
