x270 catalina - time for optimization

I hate trackpad, too hard to control it. So I bought a bluetooth mouse.

My tracking speed is on Max in Preferences and performs well.

Why is it hard to control?

I have my X270 running Mojave perfectly using a copy of a readymade EFI folder. I installed Catalina on the other ssd but can’t get it to work, it reboots a few seconds before it shows the login screen. The screen flicker and extra brightness during startup in Mojave does not happen in Catalina. How to fix Catalina?

Other SSD?

The X270 has only 1 SSD slot.

Create a new APFS Volume/Partition with Disk Utility on the same SSD.

From within Mojave, install Catalina there.

Besides the main ssd samsung sata I have installed a Transcend 420S SATA M.2 SSD 2242 in the M2 slot. I will try a second partition for Catalina.

Worked like a charm! Great Hackintosh this X270, put the Dell 1560 inside, 1TB ssd, second 240GB ssd, 16GB Ram. power charging using the MacBook Pro USB C charger. HD screen, bought the unit at an auction for 260 euros.

Pretty much my setup, except for the M2 2242.

It's so good I bought two x270s

I use 2 SSD in X270: one for Macos (SSD 2242-fast), one for Win 10. In the future, you can replace SSD 2242 to use 4G SIM slot.

Has anyone had any luck with the i5-7200U version of the x270? I've got the i5-7200U and the intel hd 620. I am fine with mojave or catalina, anything helps.

I triple boot Mojave, Catalina and Windows 10 on the 7300u.

I don't imagine there would be any difference with the 7200u CPU.

Both are Kaby Lake.
