so this is the only other choice for ngff? I cannot find 1. also I cannot find ngff to mini pcie adapter. do they make 1?

@Mrgeque,

In post #216 you stated that you where thinking of using BCM94352Z ... which is a M.2 (NGFF) Combo card, I therefore assumed that you had a suitable M.2 (NGFF) slot available on your system.

The 'Z' on the end of the model number indicates that it is the M.2 (NGFF) variant of the card ..

If your laptop has a mini PCI slot then you can use the BCM94352HMB combo card, the most common and successful variant to use in a Hackingtosh is the Azurewave AW-CE123H :-

The Mini PCIe version does not suffer from the faulting interrupt issue that the 'Z' M.2 version does, I used one for years in my old Sony VAIO laptop with no problems ... however it is an old card and chipset only supports BT 4.0.

Cheers

I’m sorry for not being more specific. I own bcm94352z and I also own bcm94360cs. I was asking if they made a mini pcie to ngff adapter that was small enough to fit inside my laptop (dell 7573) so that I could use the bcm94360cs. I opted to send the bcm94352z back as it was a variant for a Lenovo and did not fit into the slot on my laptop. I ordered dw1830 from China and it will be here in about 2 weeks. I also ordered Ipex mhf4 antenna from eBay. My question @jaymonkey is, do I need to add the antennas like the stock ones inside screen or can I just arrange and place the antennas neatly inside my laptop. Last will these Ipex mhf4 antenna work? : https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-IPEX-MHF4-Internal-Antenna-For-NGFF-M-2-Intel-18265-18260-DW1830-ac-Wifi/262917347834?hash=item3d371859fa:g:-LsAAOSwJd1byGHd

Thanks as always bro and my bad for not being specific

@Mrgeque,

If you can easily dismantle your screen (IE it is screwed together) then you'll probably get better reception with the 3rd antenna by positioning it where the existing ones are.

However it can be a fiddly process so if your not confident then you can position the 3rd antenna in the base of the laptop.

On my HP Spectre X360 laptop the screen is bonded into the lid and it is a 4K touchscreen with active stylus and is likely to be very expensive if i damaged it during removed. So i positioned the 3rd antenna next to some air vents in the side of the base part of the laptop.

If you can position the 3rd antenna where it can get some 'free-air' then you have a good chance of it doing something, but its not super critical to do so and you could as you say just coil it up over the battery.

On my laptop with a DW1830 i mostly connect at 878Mbs to my 5Ghz wifi which will be the laptop using just two antenna if i sit close enough for the 3rd antenna to start receiving then i can connect at >1000Mbs .. my laptop has a metal case so the 3rd antenna struggles to work well ... but it is still providing a load on the 3rd antenna connection on the DW1830 which stops the radio amplifier from burning out.

For the WiFi side of the DW1830 you will need to install Lilu + AirportBrcmFixup as detailed in my guide :-

For the BT side of the DW1830 you will need to install BrcmPatchRAM2.kext and BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext :-

so the card came, I installed 3rd antenna, but wifi hardware says not installed. bluetooth is showing. I'm using BrcmPatchRAM2 BrcmFirmwareRepo airportfixup and still not working
do I need to tape pin 54 and 56? if so how do I do this for Dell DW1830?

@Mrgeque,

First check to see if the card can be seen on the PCI bus, you can use Hackintool in MacOS to do this or use LSPCI in linux terminal.

If you can see the card on the PCI bus then the issue is configuration or drivers.

If you can not see the card then you need to tape the aux enable/disable lines (pins 54 and 56) which are on the rear of the card. I had to do this to get it to work on my HP Spectre X360, you can use this post for reference :-

I used heat transfer tape, but sellotape will work just as well, its needs to be thin so that it does not get knocked off when you re-insert the card into the M.2 slot .. just cut a very think slither of tape and make sure that it only covers pins 54 +56, once your done, reinsert the card and boot your laptop, check that it can now be seen on the PCI bus.

The only other cause of it not working is if your laptops bios has a white or back list ...

@Mrgeque,

You could try installing BT4LEContinuityFixup ... see Chapter-7 in my Lilu guide :-

It might help ...

thank you @jaymonkey I tried that. but it did not work. works when I power on but doesn't unlock my hack. another question, I had to solder the tips of wifi antennas to wire since I broke them trying to install another card, I also added the 3rd antenna, is there a way for me to check that all antennas are recieving full load? thanks

@Mrgeque,

You can use a WiFi scanning program that puts the wifi card into promiscuous mode and check the signal strength as you move towards and away from your router. I use WiFi Explorer the free version is fine for most purposes.

A heathy signal strength would be around 90% two metres away from your router.

thanks @jaymonkey you've done it again. all signals are healthy and working great! last thing and then this hack is complete. Ive searched and can't seem to find a direct solution to alc295 headphone jack. when I plug headphones in, sound still comes from speakers, and then after about 30-45 seconds, sound comes through headphone port but its really distorted. any help would be greatly appreciated
