Hi there,

I want to build a 3D & Video machine but I was wondering if the NVIDIA QUADRO K4200 will work on a hackintosh.
Its the updated version of the K4000

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133558

I want to buy two of these so I can render using gpu.
The reason I wanted to buy this one is because they support adobe products very well I've heard but does this also affect on the hackintosh?

Nvidia has a Quadro driver available for Mac OS X, but I doubt it will support the K4200. The latest version of the driver can be downloaded from: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/77751/en-us, but the release notes only say it supports the Quadro 4000 for Mac and Quadro K5000 for Mac - none of the models in between.

Hmm, Maybe instead of giving all the money out I should go with the new GTX 980

Because that one is cheaper but will it perform the same as in 3D rendering with the K4200?

No, as it is optimized for gaming it won't perform as well as a (probably cheaper) workstation GPU. Additionally, the 980 is not yet (fully) supported under OS X, when this changes is not known too.

K4200 does not work Mac

Just found this thread after I ordered mine on B&H.

Unfortunately its gonna have to go back:cry:

Will Post ScreenGrabs and details soon.

The Nvidia Quadro K4200 does most definitely work with macOS Mojave and Catalina (10.15.1), using the Apple Drivers.

I have one installed in an i5-4440 Z87 system, and it works perfectly with the Sony TV as a display. Here is a screenshot showing the Quadro K4200 in 'About this Mac' and System Information > Graphics/Displays.

No special kexts, fixes or patches required.

It’s ok. I don’t see much if any difference between this GPU and some of the othe cards I own.

It good enough for the software I use for my work - AutoCAD 2018, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks CS6 and Microsoft Office 365.

I can’t get the DP to HDMI audio to work, so I use a Bose Solo 5 system for sound.

I’m not a gamer so have no idea how it would perform in that area.
