With a 2500K overclocked to 4.1GHz in the bios,
I'm seeing about 8500 geekbench score (32 bit Busratio=29 boot option)

What's your score, overclock, bus ratio settings?

How can you have an over clocked processor with a busratio of 29? Doesn't that mean you're running at 2.9gHz? I get about the same, but I bet this will improve greatly with native support since you'll be able to take advantage of things like turbo boost, overclocking, etc.

That was why I was looking into Geekbench scores...

My 2500K is overclocked in the bios to 41x,
but I'm not clear how the boot busratio=29 effects
the bios overclock?

Dude that is nothing..... i have a i7/930 [email protected] and my score is 11,300 , and if i go to 3.6Ghz i got 12,200 in Geekbench
Have you try'd with and without ''NullCpu'' ? and with ''generate P and C states '' ??

Will take a look at those.

Just wanted to stick to 2500K's here,
as I think Geekbench varies with cache and hyperthreading.

When I run the bench in XP I score 9000, vs 8500 in OSX.

Does the busratio=29 limit the speed to 29x100
even if higher speeds are set in the bios?

As much as I know you dont have to set your bios ratio to 29. Ive run my 2600k @ 4.7 ghz ( x47 in bios ). Scored something like 15000+ and if i underclock it from 4.7 i get smaller scores. @ 3.4 ghz wich is the default for my processor i got i think it was 11 - 12k something

The 2600s larger cache and hyperthreading greatly increase the score.

I know this is an old thread but I just built up my I5 2500k machine this week and had a quick chance to run a few benchmarks.
I have the cpu running at 3.7 ghz in the bios (detected at stock speeds in Lion)
and my score was 10,000.
I hope to play with it more this week when I have the time and see if I can push it a bit further.

:)

How hard is it to overclock? (in general)

My 2500k gets about 8945 or so without any modications or OC. Not sure how "good" that is

Overclocked to 4,1 with stock cooler, modified smbios in E/E and there you go
