Problem solved!
I managed to solve this problem by re-installing OSX from scratch with a fresh USB key with a complete install of 10.9.2, the latest version of Multibeast and my original multibeast settings (see my build log).
Video acceleration, ethernet and the app store (all not working properly previously) worked out of the box.
A big thanks to all who took the time to read this thread and proposed solutions and to the tonymacx86 team for making all the software solutions available to the community.
