Video Editing System Hackintosh Build. Advice please!

Ok... Summary for tonight.

465 gtx installed
6 gigs installed

Can only boot with boot cd
Can only boot wih the 465 with -x safe mode switch.

What are my next steps?

How did you fix the problem?

Try using a different version of iBoot. Which are you using now?

The 465 support by OSX is still in beta, as far as I know, so no surprises there.

Also, by "being able to boot" does that mean you could install OS X?

The thing that worked was popping in the 8800 and installing OSX first. Then I chucked in the 465gtx. But as I mentioned I'm only able to get into OSX by using the iBoot cd. It will not boot right into OSX or chameleon (the cute little red apple iboot menu) without the cd. Also I have to use the -x switch for safe mode.

But I am running OSX with the 465gtx.

Two questions then.
1. So how do I solve for booting without the cd?
2. How do I run osx without safe mode?

I'm running the standard nVidia iboot. Would installing with iboot supported work better? No solve at all for 465gtx? I thought I read somewhere folks are trying out the 480 series successfully?

465 is still too young to get Apple support (it probably barely has support in Windows as of now).

As far as I know it's only the 480 right now. I don't really check fermi anymore as I have a 2XX.

If you want to be brave.. the 465 and 480 are the same architecture, so there's a slight chance that the 480 patch will work with the 465 with edits, but I can't code in OS X, so can't help you there - sorry!

Last Resort
Maybe you could try using the regular Chameleon RC4, which is a bit different than Tonymac's, but from what I heard, Tonymac's is the better one as it combines PC-EFI and Chameleon support. Won't hurt to try though.

Don't try that yet, until you have tried the options in other posts that I posted to you. You might break something.
