Now to install SL and see if it will boot! Does anyone know of a good open source testing tool to check what kind of transfer rate I can get reading/writing from/to the HD?

Use AJA's System Test
http://www.aja.com/products/software/

Or Xbench- you can target your drive and see read/write speeds.

Used both, posted over on insanelymac http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... 6209&st=20
Only a 2x increase over usb 2.0 on the same drive, but it could be the drive - stellarola got a much better ratio with a Kingwin toaster and a Hitachi Deskstar 1TB

I don't know if it really works well.
I installed as said and everything seems fine but, my usb3 box is identified as max 480mbit speed.

I have a GA-P55-USB3 with 10.6.4 and the Lacie driver work fine.
Before Lacie driver, a usb2 drive in the usb3 port was not detected.
Now, I have an Super-Speed Bus entry on system information and the usb3 port are working.
With Xbench my Lacie Rugged USB2 hdd is faster on USB2 port than USB3 port.
I don't have usb3 drive for the moment.

I'm pretty sure that's only cosmetic- try running a few of the benchmarks.

nope im afraid it isn't cosmetic my speeds are not any quicker then usb 2..... maybe i installed it wrong??? i just copied your already patched kext into /System/Extensions and repaired permissions on my SSD running my os...... not sure whats wrong
