Have you checked your BIOS for USB related options which might help?
What if I would copy the content of the prepared USB stick to a double layered DVD and boot from it, would that work? That would be almost the same way as installing Snow Leopard which actually worked like a charm for me.
It depends on whether the OS X installer needs r/w access to the boot device. DVDs are not writable. I don't know, as have never tried it.
Also tried completely another approach: I've got 2 HD, one with Windows 7 and one with SL 10.6.8 which I can boot into any of them using Chameleon. Now using OS X Disk Utility I created a new 8 GB partition (on the same HD as SL) and installed the stuff using UniBeast 2.0.1.
Now when I turn on the Laptop using Chameleon I boot into this 8 GB partition. I don't get any "Still waiting for root device" anymore but after loading all those KEXT the Laptop just reboots! Any idea what could be done here? Or should I give up this approach as well? I've seen others having this "Reboot" problem like me but couldn't find a solution for it there...
What version of Chamelon?
Boot "-v" and see what you can diagnose. Try boot "-v -x" or maybe "-v -x GraphicsEnabler=No"... and there are more flags you can try if you look at the guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/61-unibeast-install-os-x-mountain-lion-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
I've got it! Booting up ML 10.8.4 on my Sony VGN-AW11Z Laptop. The main things I did was:
- Upgraded Chameleon to v 2.1 r2069 / 2012-10-03
- Deleted NVDA*.kext on the 8 GB partition as the GraphicsEnabler=No option alone was not enough. The driver NVDA... was still loaded as looking at the boot logs (-v option) which still caused a black/blank screen
Now the only problem I'm facing is that my Ethernet driver doesn't work anymore (used to have a patched version for SL)
Booting through Windows 7, the type of the Ethernet card being reported is: Marvell Yukon 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
I've not found any suitable patched version of the driver... But still looking into the Web.
Thanks to RehabMan for his great support!
