I configured a Core i3 3225 Ivy bridge a few weeks ago, and have been running off the Intel HD4000 on board graphics. Yesterday I bought a new 27" Dell U2713HM monitor that I want to run at its native resolution of 2560x1440. I know the HD4000 will not be able to handle that.

I do have an MSI N450GTS-M2D1GD5/OC GeForce GTS 450 (Fermi) graphics card that I bought back in the day. I was wondering if I can use this without any issues with Mountain Lion? I would like to avoid the expense if I can. Here's the URL to the spec, and it looks like its reference design. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127527

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Salvage was successful. I decided to just pop the GFX card in and see what happens. To be extra-safe, I booted with the Unibeast created partition, and installed the nVidia 10.8.2 drivers, followed by the patch in Multibeast 5.2. Reboot, and all is fine and very snappy! OpenCL works as evidenced by the app.
