The 660 Ti Thread: Questions and Answers Here!

Thanks Bansaku,
I ran memtest on the pair, and they passed and reported correct timings. Are you suggesting that if i run memtest on individual sticks i might get different results? I've tried running Starcraft with just one stick in, then swapping sticks, and i continue to have the same problem (screen goes black or maroon, occasionally static-looking, then black). I very much appreciate your input!

All I want is a stable hackintosh (Z77N mobo, 660 TI) that will run Starcraft 2, but I think I'm asking too much without getting deep in over my head. My system runs great EXCEPT for this game, which appears to run fine on genuine macs.

To follow on Bansaku's recent advice, I memtest'd my individual RAM sticks, one had an incorrect latency, I RMA's them (Crucial rules) easily, got a new stick, same problem.

I did a fresh install using today's (6/14/2013) Multibeast/Unibeast and a slip-streamed OS 10.8.4, same problem: periodic freezes where the game screen changes to black (or briefly static, or briefly pink), the audio skips two or three times, and i have to reboot. I have tried the altest GeForce drivers both before and after the clean install. I have read a fair deal about making my own DSDT, and tried once per Giacomoleaprdo's tutorial, http://www.tonymacx86.com/golden-bu...pardos-gigabyte-ga-z77n-wifi-build-db-15.html, and I either did not do it correctly or it didn't succeed. Different Stem definitions (3.1 and 6.2) did nothing to solve the problem.

EVGA tech support is less than helpful in offering an RMA given I do not feel like purchasing a supported OS out of principle, though I suspect it is a software problem.

At this point, the >30 hours I have spent on this endeavor could have bought me a new mac. If ANYBODY has advice on a fix, it would be greatly received. Alternately, if anybody knows a way to sell a PC that happens to be a customac golden build, feel free to message me, as I am almost tapped out.

Many thanks

PS- FYI, no sleep problems on 10.8.4

It fixed it for me too! I finally have the perfect Hack.

Hi folks!
The new 10.8.4 finally made sleep work 100% with my 660 TI, no more back screen at wake up. Really nice, I have tried "everything" and now it finally works. :D

Yes, OSX 10.8.4 fixed the wake up problem for my Asus GTX660 TI Direct CUII, too.

I've had Starcraft 2 running without much issue for a fair while now on 10.8.2 and 10.8.3. (MSI GTX 660Ti OC Edition - Gigabyte Z77X-UP5 TH)
I was experiencing some freezing issues similar to what you describe but they were intermittent (sometimes I could play the game for hours without a problem). I eventually put this down to a separate problem with my system as I was getting random freezes/system lock-ups in other applications, sometimes immediately after logging into osx.

Recently installed a fresh 10.8.4 so haven't got around to re-installing SC2 but my system now seems stable again and yes, wake from sleep appears to be working. (Though all my fans kicking in at full speed for a few seconds is loud enough to wake the whole neighbourhood from sleep!)

I am still having some issues with sleep wake with my card. Did you do a regular update or a combo update? I did a regular update straight from the APP store. I have the ASUS GTX660 TI-DC2-2GD5.

i was just wondering if there was any drivers from nvidia we should be using or not. i didnt see a link or anything in the op for drivers from nvidia.

THats what I did...bought a 2010 Mac Pro with dual 3.3 processors and 64 gigs of RAM. Spending far too much time with lockups and fixes.

Geekbench at 30000.

Let me correct this...
Installed Mavericks and ran Geekbench 64

31500

Updated my Hack to Maverick Evrything is ROCK SOLID....!
