System Information Question

I currently own a MacBook Pro and I have my mackintosh. However, iMessage doesn't work, so I figured that i would give my mackintosh the Macbook Pro SmBios and my Macbook serial number. When I go to the system info, it says that I have 2 RAM slots and both filled (I have two RAM sticks). But, if i wish to upgrade to 4 sticks of Ram, will my machine still recognize them? Thanks

2) I've never encountered a computer that failed to recognize additional RAM - unless the OS doesn't. but 4Gigs is fairly common nowadays.
