Just woke up and got the Audio working so it is 95% functional without fully testing the USB 3.1(10gb/s). I don't have any USB 3.1 devices and primarily use Thunderbolt being a photographer with the need for high speed transfers....excited to see what 3.1 has in store, I hope it can daisy chain...biggest gripe about USB. Front USB 2.0 & 3.0 work great on the FDR5 unit. Ordered an additional 140mm BeQuiet! Silent Wings 2 1000rpm fans for added cooling and pressure in the case to alleviate any unwanted dust within the case.
Thinking about purchasing 16gb more in ram but at this time, I don't find the need with the processor doing way better than my old 2011 2.3Ghz Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro which now needs a battery, the display is slowly failing and I've replaced the internal hard drive & optical drive to 2 SSD units(500gb & 120gb units) which if I try and sell I will put the other 500gb in the R5 and utilize a windows partition on that.
I primarily purchased the mother board for simply future proofing the build. The 1150 socket will be able to upgrade at any time but this unit even without hyperthreading is a great solution. The GTX760 is more than handling the normal day to day tasks like Photoshop & Lightroom without hesitation. The 8x hard drive rack is WAY more than needed considering I have 2x external hard drives for backup raid solutions.
Overall super stoked to finally have this updates from my old Silverstone FT03B Gigabyte Z87(GA-Z87MX-D3H) small form build which I will not be using for a possible PCTV build for watching movies etc.
Thanks for looking and to Tony for making this possible to not spend $4000+ build from apple....way more happy this way.
