Comments

You can follow these threads as my build is the same as their's:

http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-buil...ng-gt-i7-4790k-nvidia-geforce-gtx-970-sc.html

My bios setup is as follows (I am using F5 bios version)"
1. Load optimized settings
2. Set the initial display output to where you nvidia car is attached, there is no need to use integrated card.
3. Set VT-d to Disabled
4. Set Extreme Memory Profile to Profile 1
5. Save and exit bios.

Boot your Yosemite 10.10.1, enter the following boot args: -v -x nv_disable=1.

When the installer shows first screen, go to disk utility and:
1. Click on your hard drive on the left
2. Click on the partition tab
3. Select 1 partition
4. Name the drive “Yosemite” (no quotes)
5. Click options and select GUID
6. Select Mac OS extended (Journaled)
7. Hit apply
8. Hit partition
9. After you partition your hard drive close the disk utility
10. When you are asked where to install, select the Yosemite hard drive and select continue.

When the process is finished , reboot with :
-v nv_disable=1

follow installation process, and, when you get, for the first time, your system up, use MultiBeast:
Quick Start Tab, Check mark "DSDT-Free"
Drivers Tab, Audio:Check mark. “ALC1150” (This is the audio driver for the gaming 5)
Drivers Tab, Disk:Check mark
1. “3rd Part SATA” at the very top (Should be selected by default)
2. Extend the “Trim Enabler” and check mark “10.10.0 Trim Pack”.
Drivers tab, Network:Check expand “Atheros” and then select “AtherosE2200Ethernet V1.0.2”
Drivers Tab, Misc:Check mark
1. “3rd Party SATA”
2. “FakeSMC v6.11.1328 Plugings,
3. FakeSMC v6.11.1328 HWMonitor Application”
4. “USB 3.0-Universal”.
Customize Tab, Boot Options:Check to see if these are Marked
1. “Basic Boot Options
2. Hibernate Mode-Desktop
3. Kext Dev Mode
4. Use Kernel Cache

Apply MultiBeast options and reboot with:
-v nv_disable=1

When you reboot and get network working, update to Yosemite 10.10.3 and reboot again with:
-v nv_disable=1

Install nVidia drivers, reboot with -v nv_disable=1, use web drivers , afterwards reboot with no flags. If you get black screen, reboot with-v nv_disable=1, and follow this thread (apply kext file):
http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...creen-after-10-10-3-update-6.html#post1018252

and that's all, system is running fine.

Of course, you must use latest MultiBeast to apply TRIM and Audio driver.

Please complete the description and buy links for the memory and SSD. Additionally, as outline in the Template (see sticky thread), please add comments on why you build the system and why you chose the components that you did. TIA.

Did you have any issues with the F5 BIOS? I have a similar rig to yours, but having recently purchased a new M.2 SSD for it was forced to upgrade the BIOS to F5 from F4 and now it looks like it's broken something on 10.10.3.

Haven't had time to fault find yet but just saw that you had success with the F5 BIOS so thought I ask how you got along with it? Did you install straight on the the F5 or did you have it at F4 first?
