Yes you can most definitely do a clean install. That's exactly what I did. My guide is pretty detailed, and it's tailored for my hardware, but really for the UD5H it isn't that difficult at all to get a fairly stable build.

My first build was using an Nforce chipset on a very old machine that was still using IDE devices! Now THAT was difficult to get working. This, on the other hand, you can have done in just a few hours...

Doesn't it feel great?

Just curious - was there anything in my guide that was confusing or wrong? I'll update it for other people if you found anything. Thanks for the kind words!

yes there were 2 areas that confused me at first.

i had 1 issue actually. SOUND.
i have tried the multibeast kexts you laid out in your guide and some kexts from 4.6 multi as another user posted. both did not work when connected to the green port.
however i found that black and orange ports using your kexts in multi did work.
not sure why green wont work. but it does not.

1. step 3 should be more clear. links to unibeast as well as a link to a tut should be linked.
i was not sure what unibeast was or how i should make a unibeast whatever.
i also suggest a link to a tut showing the macosx install steps using unibeast.
as a noob in the hackintosh world i had to google most of this. easy for me to get. some not so much.

2. links to multibeast should be included as well. you should also note that booting from dvd or usb is optional.

3. list minimum requirements to do this. ie snow leopard, applieid and purchased mountain lion. links to how or where to get these would help to.

Thanks for the feedback - I will try to incorporate those into the guide soon.

As for the sound problem, this is a known issue with the UD5H motherboard. Looks like Gigabyte just released a new revision (rev 1.1) that fixes this problem. This proves that it is indeed a hardware problem that likely won't be fixable without hardware modification.

Did you do anything speficically to make it faster? I built a very similar system except I have the 660 TI and the i5 3570K. But my Geekbench score was only 9820 or something like that. Thats a pretty big difference. Would you really get that much of a boost by using an i7 processor and a 670 card?

Just curious. I don't know much about it.

Interesting... Do you have a link to the gigabyte site or some other site where this board revision is mentionned ? Accessing the French gigabyte site, they are still mentionning the 1.0 revision for both UD5H and UD5H-wifi (I have the latter).
