I'm trying to install High Sierra but it requires GUID while selecting drive in installer...
Is GUID really required? I thought legacy mode means also using MBR.
I did that (formatted SSD and divided into GPT partitions), but seems like my motherboard refuses to load Clover form GPT...
Everything I got is "Missing Operating System..." after BIOS splash screen (AHCPI, Legacy mode, not UEFI).
USB boots ok in legacy mode.

Any suggestions? And thanks.

  • Intel Motherboards are notorious for being very hard for hackintoshing.
  • You can see very few respond to questions in a Forum when Intel MoBo is used because it is much less widely used compared to other brands like Gigabyte| Asus|MSI etc
  • As you said it has a very unfriendly BIOS interface and very unresponsive to mould itself to accommodate Hackintosh BIOS options.
  • Because of the limitations I don't prefer them!
  • I have a Hackintosh macOS High Sierra on an Intel DH 67BL https://ark.intel.com/products/50098/Intel-Desktop-Board-DH67BL
  • I hardly use that. I open it only when someone comes up with a question on Intel MoBo based Hackintosh.
  • To get readers interested in your post, please upload images of its BIOS screen shots(F2) , its Boot Menu option Screen ( F-10)
  • Also upload your CLOVER as a compressed file.

On third image there is Clover booted from USB... As for Clover files on SSD - I tried to install it with MultiBeast 10.4 both - first time as Legacy second time as UEFI mode... Nothing changed there in configs at all... I'm just dont understand how USB is working but SSD not at same time.

  • I did not find the CLOVER as a zipped file uploaded to your current post.
  • Is the USB Installer disk on this screen shot the one that you used or tried to use to install the system on the SSD?

In you initial post, there is not much real information. It was like you were talking to yourself. You had your own conclusions mentioned with scanty observations to share and asking to suggest to pick your offered choice to help you decide
I'm trying to install High Sierra but it requires GUID while selecting drive in installer...

From this mixed up data, my suggestions are the following:

  • Take the USB Installer Flash disk to the System it was created and edit its EFI as below
    • In the desktop, click Finder>Preferences> [√] Hard disks [√]External disks to get your Disk icons on desktop for easy navigation.[See image]
    • Download Clover Configurator Global Clover Configurator (Global Edition)
    • Launch CCG and from its Left Panel under TOOLS, click Mount EFI(See Image)
    • Click Mount Partition from the USB Installer in the bottom of Right Panel
    • Locate the White EFI icon similar to the color of USB icon on Desktop [Image]
    • Now you can click that EFI to get to EFI Folder >CLOVER...> [Image]
    • From CLOVER go to config.plist and open with CCG
    • Go to Gui >Hide Volume > + Preboot [ this will hide unwanted icons from SSD showing up in CBM screen)
  • Boot with that disk and try to reformat and reinstall on the SSD
  • Take photos of any problem screen to upload
In my personal experience frustration has no place in Hackintosh. You are trying to make a non-mac hardware into Mac. This requires patience and very clear communication to get help. Theres is no standard set of hardware to get perfect result from any GUIDE. Each individual is using different hardware and whatever GUIDE you use , don't expect a smooth sail.

Thanks, I'm very apperciate your answer! But I'm really don't think that hidding some volume will help to make UEFI work.
Also tried to update BIOS from v52 to v69, and had specially install Windows 10 in UEFI mode, and guess what? It didnt boot also.

So I think its buggy motherboard's EFI is the reason.

> Is the USB Installer disk on this screen shot the one that you used or tried to use to install the system on the SSD?
It's SSD partition on which I installed OSX.

Anyway thanks for the help!

Intel made the board primarily for Windows. We are just trying to tame it to accommodate Windows and Mac. As I said in my first post, it is really hard and I don't like it only because it is not an easy-to-work-with board for Hackintosh Dual boot. That bugs me too, but it its not really buggy if we use it only for Windows as intended.:)

After I simulate your problem in my Intel Hackintosh system, I will try to make a follow up post with images from that if that would help. I have to find a spare disk to do my experiments and make screen shots etc. It may take some time for all that.

I wish I could have been more helpful to you.

cmn699,
thanks! It would be very helpful for every owner of Intel board if you find the correct way to work with efi... :)
In my case on freshy repartitoned SSD even Windows 10 UEFI version doesn't work... That's why I said buggy Board's UEFI, and not only for clover, but for single efi bootloader of Windows installation too...

  • As promised I tried another macOS High Sierra installation on a SATA 500 GB Spin Disk (Seagate ST 3500312CS).
  • As I have done before I used RehabMan's method to create my USB Installer Disk on a 16GB USB 2.0 Lexar Flash disk inserted into the USB 2.0 port at the back near the Ethernet port.
  • I am uploading Screen shots of BIOS screens and installation screens hoping it will serve as a framework for you and others with same Specs
  • Please note I have an Add-on Graphics card on my PCIE AMD Radeon 6450 1GB. I am not using the Integrated Intel HD 2500 from my CPU i5 3450S
  • I do have a major issue : It reboots on Shut Down . I think it may be related to USB ports or BIOS Power Management. That may take a while for me to figure out.

Wow! Thanks dude! I'll take a look at your configuration and I'll try to figure out.

I have the same problem on my Dell Optiplex 990 MT. It boots great with the USB, but will not recognize the internal drive EFI to boot. Have tried everything under the sun and I guess I just have to boot this thing with the usb key running EFI clover...

Sigh...
