@lewys
Since I don't have the system here anymore, I can't tell you what the problem is. I would now blame it on the versions of the software and drivers.

Hey lg, I know you dont have this rig anymore, but just curious if you remember if you had to do anything to get the GSkill to keep the RGB settings after reboot? I havent setup my mac drive, but currently in my Windows when I restart the RAM is defaulting to rainbow vomit until the gskill app is opened.

@kylejanderson
Yes, unfortunately the setting is always reset to the default value (rainbow). It's because of the RAM itself, it stores it only in the volatile memory area --> so these settings are deleted after shutdown. Sorry to tell you this now but there is no way. So at least as far as this RAM is concerned. I bought the Corsair Dominator RGB RAM and it saves the last settings and uses them again after a reboot ;)

Here a picture of my current system (operating system is Catalina 10.15.7):

Ahh okay, no worries, guess I'll have to deal with the rainbow while in MacOS when I get that setup, not a big deal as long as the memory side actually works! Will keep the Corsair in mind if I ever swap it out. Your new build looks amazing! huge step up from the one in the OP! Thank you so much for the fast reply :D

@kylejanderson
Thank you, I finally wanted to try the water cooling system... :D And now I am finally satisfied too...

I found a temporary solution (but you need Windows and macOS):
1) You start Windows --> so that the RAM takes over the correct settings
2) You restart your PC. So do not click on "Shutdown" but on "Restart". At such a "warm restart" the settings will remain in RAM, that means when you log in to macOS the RAM will still show the correct color.

I know it's a bit annoying but that's the only way I know.

welp you made my decision for me, returned the GSkill and got some Corsair since Amazon has such a large return window right now! Thanks for the help, got my usb hub today too so I hope to be installing macOS this weekend :beachball:

@kylejanderson
Oh I didn't mean to tempt you into spending more, sorry!:angel::mrgreen: But besides some frustration (it's normal with a Hackintosh) you will have a lot of fun with the computer, I'm sure.

Hey , I have the same build but jumped ship to OpenCore 0.6.3 and Big Sur. For the life of me , I cannot get sleep to work properly. It wakes up every 20 mins

Everything else is good. If anyone's got it working, do you mind sharing your "pmset -g" and any help really
