I miss FakeSMC.kext or VirtualSMC.kext. No idea how this works for you :D
Whether you have FakeSMC.kext in the System?
...
Fake SMC works, but only this version works. Newer ones won't monitor the Vega graphics cards.

Temperature Monitoring:
All temps are visible in HWMonitor after installing HWSensors3. link
Install Instructions.
When you get to the Installation Type, click Customize.
  • Chose either or both HWMonitorSMC v1 or v2.
  • Expand Kernel extensions.
  • Select FakeSMC, IntelCPUMonitor, RadeonMonitor, LPC, ACPIMonitor.
  • Also Select, Install kexts to the ESP. This one will put the kexts in your Clover folder.

Success..

Welp, I just bit the bullet on a new build and ended up going with this board. It's been a solid 7 years on the current build (Z77x-UD5H + i5 3570k) and figured, I guess it's time. It was a tossup between this and the DESIGNARE, but since I don't have any TB devices at the moment, the price difference wasn't justifiable and I can add it later for slightly less. The new setup will arrive tomorrow and includes a new i7-9600k, 32GB of 3000Mhz RAM and 500GB of M.2 NVMe storage. Also in the upgrade will be a Vega 56 which I couldn't get to work in the old build (also part of the reason to upgrade).

Looking forward to having a good solid system for the next 7 years. I really appreciate the time other's have spent fleshing all this out for others like me. The only question I have at this point is which model to use for SMBIOS? I don't see any 9th gen i7s listed in any of the profiles. I would assume the iMac 19,2 since it's closest, unless the 19,1 would be better since it is 9th gen CPU?

Great build! & thank you for your nice guide!

Maybe I finally found my new mobo!
this should be the final build,
please gimme some advices:
  • Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO
    • I have just some dubts about the bios,
someone talks about a bad bios, or anyway not good as other mobos, whats your opinions?
  • Intel Core i9-9900K
  • Corsair Hydro H75 2018
  • Asus ROG-STRIX-RXVEGA64-O8G-GAMING
    • should work without issues? (i'll sell my 1080 ti!)
    • is there any other vega 64 suggested?
  • Samsung Memorie MZ-V7E1T0BW SSD 970 EVO, 1 TB, M.2, NVMe
  • Monitor Samsung C27FG73
Already own:
  • Case Cooler Master elite 430
  • Cooler Master V1000
    • Should be enought for power?
  • Ram 2 Crucial 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 + 2 Corsair 4GB 1600 Mhz DDR3
    • are they compatible with this Mobo? or I should buy a newer DDR4?
  • Bluetooth adapter iogear GBU521W6 Bluetooth 3Mbit/s
  • TP-Link TL-WDN4800

any hints?

thank you!

It's not the best UX in the world, but it allows you to do the things you need to install macOS. Any opinions on the matter are purely subjective. ;)

You're gonna need DDR4 RAM for this chipset. See here for supported modules: http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_z390-aorus-pro-wifi_190415.pdf

Thank you usefull pdf!
Ballistix is not on the list, so maybe is better to choose one of the listed? suggestions?

I ordered Ballistix myself. They worked in the current Z77X board I have. If they don't work, I'll return and get Corsair probably. I've read G.Skill is another favorite.

Sure. Might be a couple days before I get to it This is also my Plex server and I get complaints from a certain member of the household when it's offline ;)
