Your GT 1030 graphics are unsupported in Big Sur.

Noted with thanks

OK, I have the same RX 580 and the same mobo, but I can't even create a USB stick that will boot to give me an option to install Monterey (or Big Sur, or Catalina). Are you following the guide here to make a bootable drive?

I'm making the drive on a M1 chipset. Could that cause a problem?

I asked on this thread: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...x-b360-i-opencore-0-7-5-monterey-12-1.318288/

But at this point any upgrade would be fine. Help appreciated.

I got everything working but sound now. Any idea what to look for here?

derp. The wrong audio output was selected by default after the install =. thanks

i decided to attempt the install again, but I can't repro, and stuck like before with the firmware error. wtf

after install it looks like this now. but when I had it working there was a -data option to boot from. What should I be looking for?

  1. sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/USB /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur.app --nointeraction

  2. sudo diskutil mountDisk /dev/diskN (for the USB)
  3. copy over EFI data
  4. boot and install from USB

am I missing something? the extra step I needed to get it working the first time was to remove the SSD and copy the /EFI folder to it's EFI partition. but not even that works anymore.

When I did run into the firmware issue again, I followed the steps here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/a-required-firmware-update-could-not-be-installed.316570/
