Comments

This is my third attempt to build a Hackintosh. First, I have tried to with a HP laptop, but I've had many problems with the build since the hardware was brand new; the CPU and Intel GPU were not properly support. Not even in the tonymacx86 community. Also, the laptop build quality was not what I expected.

My second attempt was about a year and a half ago using pretty much the same config as above without the GPU (used the integrated Intel GPU), and I couldn't make it even to boot the OSX installer properly, I had a lot of problems with it and could not waste any more time to try to fix them as Ii needed a fully functional Mac ASAP. So I bought the last generation of MacBook Air.

My third attempt was a couple of days ago and the above configuration actually worked flawless without the GTX 1050 (used only the integrated Intel GPU). Now I have put the GTX 1050 in the build, but it does not actually work properly.

Updated Installation

I used the standard guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/u...pitan-on-any-supported-intel-based-pc.172672/

I had to first update the UEFI of the motherboard (via Ethernet) and then set the following:
  1. Disable VT-d
  2. Disable IO Serial
  3. Disabled IO Parallel

With MultiBeast I then set the following:
  1. Quick Start > UEFI Boot Mode
  2. Drivers > Audio > Realtek > ALC892
  3. Drivers > Audio > Audio 100 Series Audio
  4. Drivers > Misc > The FakeSMS options (to monitor fans/temperature)
  5. Drivers > Network > Intel > AppleIntelE1000e v3.3.6
  6. Drivers > USB > Increase Max Port Limit
  7. Customization > System Definitions > iMac > iMac 17.1

NVIDIA Driver:
  1. Install 378.10.10.10.25.102 for High Sierra 10.13.2 from HERE
  2. Install AGDPfix.app.zip from HERE -> do this step only if after installing the Nvidia driver the screen goes black

What works
  1. System boots
  2. Display is identified correctly
  3. GPU works
  4. Ethernet works
  5. The USB works correctly
  6. iBook works
What doesn't work
  1. iMessages
  2. GPU does not send audio signal through HDMI
  3. Sleep function does not work after installing AGDPfix. It sort of worked before that in the sense that the screen would turn black, the mouse could still be seen but after moving it or pressing a key the system would wake and could be used.

What's next
  • the only thing I want to add next is a NVMe SSD. Which will happen in about a week.

Thanks

Tried again to load in multibeast only the UEFI + emulated boot settings, enabled the nvidia webdriver. Restarted the computer but got the same result, after a few seconds of loading the screen goes completely black.

GPU issue solved by doing the following:
  1. Installed 378.10.10.10.25.102 NVIDIA Driver for High Sierra from HERE
  2. From the black screen problem I have installed shilohh's fix from HERE - just download the file AGDPfix.app.zip and run it

Seem to have lag issues when playing 4k video content from local ssd. The system works fine while running the movie, the applications which are running in the same time are responsive only the movie seems to suffer from lag and image distorion. Not sure if the problem is caused by GPU, by the fact that the Intel SSD has really low read/write speeds or because of the LG monitor which has top resolution of 1080p.

The SSD option will be ruled out once I install the NVMe SSD in about a week.

Update: tested the issue further by playing 5k video content on youtube and 1080p from ssd and both worked fine. The issue seems to be caused by the slow speeds r/w of the intel ssd.

Ran a few benchmark tests on the but not sure if the scores are what they should be. For instance cinebench is seeing the i5 6400 cpu as having 2 cores and 4 threads which is not correct, the cpu is quad core. Also the geekbench 4 scores seem to bee low.

Are the scores what they should be?

https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/6284260 -> CPU scored 4331 in single core and 9887 in multi core
https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/compute/1798385 -> OpenCL score 62429

Added a Asus USB-BT400, Bluetooth 4.0 adapter to the config. It worked out of the box with High Sierra and an Apple Magic Keyboard 2.
