I'm sure you are, but we seem to be missing some vital information!

When you copy the EFI folder to the USB drive, you are copying it to the EFI partition on the USB, YES? i.e. you have to mount the EFI partition in macOS or Windows and copy the Whole EFI folder to the EFI partition.

When you select the USB drive as the boot option, after pressing F12, you are selecting the 'UEFI' named partition on your USB drive, YES? If not you are not selecting the EFI partition containing the EFI folder.

Yes. I was doing exactly that. I found an old thumb drive from a year ago when I was trying to get OC working, and that one booted to the OC screen and I was able to clear the nvram which ended up getting me into my old CLOVER boot, but the OC file you were generous to share with me did not work. I am going to try to put together a list of my components and maybe you or someone would be kind enough to help me configure with a fresh install of OC and Catalina on a new drive? My on board LAN port got fried by a power surge, so I have both a hard wired network card, and a wifi card. Your help is super appreciated, and I thank you.

The power surge happened with your current Z490 board?

If yes, then it may have damaged more than just the on-board Lan port.

Have you inspected the front and rear of the motherboard, to see if any other signs of electrical damage are visible?

I would like to set up a new hard drive with a fresh OpenCore OC install of Cataline or BigSur. If anyone can help with settings, or if they already have this configuration, it would help immensely. Any other information needed to help guide me through this, please let me know. I have been down for about two weeks with limited time, and would love to get this back up und running since it is my main computer. Thanks a ton

Yes, the GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-OC has been running for a few years after the surge and has been fine. I have it running right now but but given the trouble I just had, I would like to do an OC install and get it up to date with either catalina or bigsur.

I can create an OpenCore EFI for your system to run Catalina or Big Sur, but I need you to post a copy of your system DSDT.aml. As the SSDT's I have for my Z87 board may not be correct for your setup.

Which kext are you using for the HP NIC, SmallTreeIntel8254x.kext?

The OC EFI is done bar the custom SSDT's required for your system.

When you post the DSDT.aml I'll finish the EFI & config.plist edits.

On the Clover boot screen press the F4 key, wait 30 seconds for the files to be written to the /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/origin folder.

Boot your system.

Mount the EFI partition and navigate to the /EFI/CLOVER/ACPI folder compress the origin folder and post a copy here.
