Lenovo Thinkcentre M83. Work In Progress.
*** UPDATE *** Working flawless on 10.11 with AMD R9-280x
*** UPDATE *** Working fine on 10.10.5
Hello.
I just catch a deal on ebay for this machine (Only 295€)
Lenovo M83
Q85 Express Chipset
Haswell i5 4670 CPU
HD Graphics 4600
NOW AMD R9 280x
8GB DDR3 1600
Intel SSD 180GB
ALL WORKS!! This works like a real mac!! Sleep works flawless!!
As of now:
- No sound (yet). ALC662 / 283 chipset on my machine, still not sure. No big deal since i was not planning to use it anyway, but would be nice to have it working.
-Sound: Works with voodoohda, but im not using it anyway so i disabled it. I've seen some info on insanely mac about patching AppleHDA.kext to natively support this codec, but i will not spend more time on this. Also, sound is the less of the worries nowadays, you can get the same quality out of any cheap dac out there.
- Graphics: Intel HD4600 is detected with 7mb, and speed is very bad...
- Graphics: Working nice thanks to this post.
- Ethernet E1000e works nice, but BE CAREFULL, since for some reason my card became picky with the network cable... it was not getting any working ip adress until i changed the cable. (was using a cheap one i had working on windows), once i placed a CAT5e one, it started to work.
- You have to patch IOACPI... in order to get TRIM enabled. (i used multibeast).
Checklist:
**********************************
- Boots: Works (Clover)
- Sound: Works(VoodooHDA) / USB SOUND WORKS
- Network: Works (Intel E1000e.kext, currently v 2.4)
- Graphics: Works
- Memory: Works
- CPU: Works, geekbench score is the same as in windows.
- Sleep, restart, shutdown: Works
- Speedstep, power management: Works Including turbo and intermediate states.
- Temperatures: Very low, high 20s to low 30's.
- Noise: Ultra quiet. (Noiseless under the desk). You HAVE to tweak the thermal behaviour of the machine in bios in order to make it this quiet. Factory setting is "thermal priority" instead of "acoustic", so it makes a bit of noise. You can safely turn this to "acoustic", temps are very low.
Console log (weird messages to fix)
**********************************
- Awaiting for checklist to complete.
