You have 7-series chipset (with Sandy Bridge CPU). You can use native AppleUSBXHCI.kext.

Try with FakePCIID+FakePCIID_XHCIMux: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Fake-PCI-ID

Yosemite USB 3 Problem

I take it FakePCIID_XHCIMux did the trick...??

Yup, i simply put those 2 kexts in /EFI/clover/kexts/10.10
And now it works :)

EDIT: Sorry guys, didn' realize RehabMan already replied to it.

Unfortunately, no. Not that I know of anyway. You don have to install a linux distributon though, you can create a live cd and boot up to that. No change to your system will be made and you can issue any command you require.

If you never used any linux distribution before, I reccomend ubuntu or linux mint. Just burn it to a cd or create a live usb with a program like unetbootin. On boot up menu, select "try ubuntu without installing" and your linux desktop will show up in no time! From there you can open up a terminal and issue commands.
