[Solved] Security update 2018 001 10.12.6 boot loop

Hi all

Having some trouble updating Sierra with the security patch 2018 001 10.12.6. Getting the kernal panic in the attached photo. I have updated the lilu kext to the latest version. Safe mode will not boot either. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have updated the lilu kext to the latest version.

The latest Lilu.kext is v1.2.2

You could try booting with -liluoff
Note that any other kexts that depend on Lilu should be updated too.

I'm probably doing something wrong here, I've copied the updated lilu kext into the efi "others" folder but it's still showing up as 1.1.1 in the kernel panic. Am I updating the kext incorrectly?

You probably have another copy on your system disk in /Library/Extensions.

Pilgrim, I finally got around to testing out the method you suggested and it worked. Thanks for the help.

In my case, I use clover boot menu, select options > kext management > disable lilu kexts.
I can boot into mac os, then replace lilu in EFI with newer version.
Reboot, everything is fine now.
