Hey,

So I've been pretty bad about updating my Probook laptop.

I was afraid to update it to El Capitain for the moment, so I just updated it to 10.10.5 (The same version I currently have on my desktop) in order to be able to download the new version of Keynote.

So I just did the the update through the AppStore, there were no problems.

It then rebooted, and it got past the Mac loading screen to where I see a black screen with the mouse in the top left, right before the login screen would usually appear. But at this point, it crashes and reboots.

My idea was to try and update Clover.

I did a verbose boot and it appears to be having a kernel panic, see the image:

I can boot in with safe mode though. I tried updating clover with the ProBook installer but I can't mount the EFI partition in safe mode.

I then created a new installation USB following this guide:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-proboo...-install-yosemite-hp-laptops-clover-uefi.html

I only created the Clover partition in the hope it would be able to let me boot into the OS without safe mode. However, it gets to the mac loading screen and just doesn't load.

In retrospect, this was really stupid and I just should have went ahead and installed El Capitain.... Has anyone any ideas as to what I should to? Ideally, i'd just like to get back in without safe mode, run the PBI and clover updates and then update ti El Capitain

Probook 4540s 10.10 -> 10.10.5 update

Are you suggesting that I need to reinstall? I can't update Clover or anything as I can only boot in safe mode.

Boot using your USB, or build a new USB on a working computer.

Probook 4540s 10.10 -> 10.10.5 update

I've done that now. I created a new USB for El Capitan and I've successfully installed it. However, I can't get anything working - sound, battery, camera ...

Note I'm using a probook 4540s.

I've followed your guide, after installation:
1. I installed the latest Clover from https://sourceforge.net/projects/cloverefiboot/
2. I added https://github.com/JrCs/CloverGrowerPro/raw/master/Files/HFSPlus/X64/HFSPlus.efi to /EFI/CLOVER/drivers64UEFI
3. I removed all folders except "Other" from EFI/CLOVER/kexts/
4. I added https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-FakeSMC-kozlek, https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller and https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Generic-USB3 to "Other"
5. I added https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Clover-Laptop-Config/blob/master/config_HD4000_1366x768.plist to EFI/CLOVER/config.plist
6. I then downloaded your repo https://github.com/RehabMan/HP-ProBook-4x30s-DSDT-Patch probook.git
7. I ran download.sh and install_downloads.sh

As suggested, I rebooted at this point. It booted slowly but battery isn't working, audio isn't working, camera isn't working. WIFI is working.

8. I compiled using make - no errors or warnings
9. I copied SSDT-HACK.aml, SSDT-BATT.aml, SSDT-IGPU.aml, SSDT-KEY102.aml, SSDT-USB-4x40s.aml and SSDT-FAN-MOD.aml to EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched
10. I downloaded and executed https://github.com/Piker-Alpha/ssdtPRGen.sh and copied ~/Library/ssdtPRgen/SSDT.aml to EFI partition EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched/SSDT.aml
11. I disabled hiberation as instructedhttps://github.com/Piker-Alpha/ssdtPRGen.shhttps://github.com/Piker-Alpha/ssdtPRGen.sh

I rebooted again - which is still pretty slow. Again nothing is working.

I've included everything you suggested in the Problem reporting section:
- Downloads/RehabMan
- OIReg
- EFI partition without themes
- kextstat commands
- touch and kextcache commands

Any ideas on where I've went wrong?

Your config.plist is wrong. Read guide, post #1, "Final config.plist"

Note: Your 4540s does not need GenericUSBXHCI.kext (as is clear in the guide).

I removed GenericUSBXHCI.kext and I tried the config_4x40s.plist, config_4x0s_G0.plist and config_4x0s_G1.plist - not exactly sure what the difference between them is. Is this documented anywhere by chance?

With all of them, Wifi and battery work however sound and camera still do not. Am I missing something else?

I really appreciate your guidance thus far with this problem, you're a gent.

The correct config for the system in your profile is config/config_4x0s.plist. No others are valid for your hardware.

Make sure you copy the SSDTs as per guide to ACPI/patched.

Make sure you install the required kexts with ./download.sh and ./install_downloads.sh.

If you have an issue, read guide, post #1, "Problem Reporting".

I changed back to the config_4x0s.plist.

I verified that the SSDTs are copied to ACPI/patched:
SSDT-HACK.aml, SSDT-BATT.aml, SSDT-IGPU.aml, SSDT-KEY102.aml, SSDT-USB-4x40s.aml and SSDT-FAN-MOD.aml

I reran ./download.sh and ./install_downloads.sh.

Still audio and camera aren't working.

I've included an updated version of everything you request in the Problem reporting section:

Thank you!!!

Your laptop does not require GenericUSBXHCI.kext.

Your copy of Clover is too old. v3253 (what you have) does not support Devices/Arbitrary.

Your ioreg shows the camera working (detected as a USB device). Note that cameras that show no serial# in System Information->USB are problematic.
