I am planing on using a i5 4690K with an over clock, and a GTX 970. Could I use a 500w PSU or do I need more?

Yes most likely. However there are calculators to assist in power budgeting... for example see this one: http://powersupplycalculator.net/

Thanks for the advice. I just used the calculator and i will most likely get a 550-600w psu, just to have buffer room for overclocking and maybe future sli.
