Hey, so I finally got el capitan installed and can boot into it using my usb installer. Now it gets messy because for mavericks and yosemite I used the kext in this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/290687-wip-hp-envy-17t-j000-quad-haswell-10851091010/

because its very similar to my laptop model and everything works. They recently uploaded the 10.11 files and I used it but every time i use the kext, dsdt etc.. it won't boot into el capitan and i have to re install it. I've done this 6 times and haven't found a fix it loads half way through the apple logo and then theres a big prohibited sign (circle with a diagonal line).

Thanks!

Never a good idea to use another laptop's ACPI files.

If your laptop is that similar... use this guide instead: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...nvy-haswell-series-j-k-using-clover-uefi.html

My guide is updated for 10.11.

You should never use ACPI files from another computer... If you follow the instructions carefully, you'll find the whole process quite easy.

Note feedback thread this forum: http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...-series-j-k-using-clover-uefi-10-11-beta.html

It was fairly simple but it still gives me the same screen, I suspect it is because my bootloader is on a separate hdd and it's tranfering the files to my other efi partition (different than the bootloaders) is there a way to choose which efi file it transfers each file to?

Reply in the thread I linked with the files requested in the guide, post #1, "Problem Reporting".

The scripts/guide assumes the EFI partition on the same disk as the system volume is the EFI partition you're booting from.

If you're booting from another disk, you'll need to transfer the EFI/Clover manually.

I have and I'm posting pictures because I cannot boot into my El Capitan partition since i used your guide. When it gives me the prohibited sign i notice the last line is waiting for root device. If you can help me boot into it again i can post the ddst info
