So I just updated to 10.13.4

It went well, I'm just curious if there is a better solution for something.

When I first installed I had to use a patch for 32MB DVMT-prealloc and an invalid ig-platform-id. So when I get an update for MacOS I have to boot again with that patch and platform id (I saved that on a usb stick) do the update, get back into the os, then rebuild the kernel cache again before I can boot normally again.

Overall this isn't a problem, I just have to plan on taking the time to do that and keep that usb stick around when there is an update. I'm just wondering if there is a better solution for this that I'm missing or if this is just the normal in this case.

Can you share your details of dealing with UHD620? I tried almost everything but still fail to get it accelerated (see post https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/intel-uhd-620-graphics.236987/page-2). I am not sure if that is related to my motherboard (dell inspiron 7370) itself.

Honestly I just followed this to the letter. https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

I went into config.plist and put in an invalid id, I think I used 0x12345678. HS installed, so I put the required kexts into /L/E and rebuilt the cache. I installed clover to the hdd, put the config.plist in with the correct id. Rebooted from the hdd instead of the usb stick and away I went.

It is easy to change ig-platform-id in Clover options. No need to use a USB...

Thanks! My model is really out of luck...

Ok so I'm no expert at looking at the debug reports that get generated here. This is my first time trying to do so. But I just looked at the last debug report you generated. Did you set the ig-platform-id back to a valid platform? Because in the bootlog.txt file it says:

Code:
18:153 0:000 ig-platform-id = 0x00123456

Because I cannot login to the system with a valid platform-id, I have to boot with the invalid id 0x12345678 to generate the debug files.

Ok random weird ass try, but, I'm using 0x191b0000, maybe that will work maybe it won't. But I'm at a loss without having the laptop in front of me. Sorry I'm a novice.
