Safe boot only need help for next step

Still no sound but managed to load Windows 7 on the other partition and then I had to boot from my stick and load OSX that way and run Multibeast to load Chimera. So now I can boot to Apple or Windows.
For Sound I have been advised to find out what codec I have to be able to know which Audio driver etc to load. Do you know anything about codecs?
Thanks again for for all your past help. There will be a long story about my build because so many things caused me trouble but a lot was understanding what I was doing which I did not.
