right way to format a broken Mac OS

How would we remove all partitions besides using the "sudo dd" command in Terminal?

In some rare instances, I want to be able to remove all partitions so that there would be no partition on the drive, just the way it came fresh from factory.

assume you could click on the partition in the partition tab and use the minus button to remove a partition and then click apply
