Can anyone help and explain why I'm getting this error? I first get can't read private key while compiling the drivers and now I get this. RehabMan has been a great help, if anyone else with Linux experience can help I really appreciate it. I have done the guide 5 times thinking I got something wrong. I most probably did or I wouldn't be getting errors

It won't work. The drivers in OS X will fail to work as there are a ton of dependencies within the binary on the specific vendor-id 0x168c and the device-id range. If you're familiar with x86 assembly, you may be able to get it to work by patching the binary, but it will take some determination.

In addition, Windows will crash with the card in that configuration (the Intel driver will load... then crash...)

If your Lenovo T430 has a whitelist entry for an Atheros card, rebrand to that id instead (read your service manual). Then patching the binary is not (as) difficult. Although Windows will not work with it, the driver doesn't seem to crash.

So with the new fake pciid kext and dsdt edits do you think this might be possible now to brand the atheros card as Intel to boot past whitelist and then tell osx that it's really an atheros card?
I'm considering getting a mPCIe to M.2 conversion board and picking up one of these atheros cards and rebranding to Intel or Realtek as those are the only cards FRUd for the T440s. Note I don't use windows at all so if it doesn't work in windows not an issue.

Rebranding must take place in the firmware/eeprom on the card itself.

After you rebrand it, you can use _DSM injection and FakePCIID to make the kexts load for it...

I've not heard of a radical rebrand being successful (eg. Atheros->Intel), but it could work. On Windows you just disable the device3. Best to disable prior to installing the rebranded card, or to disable it while the real Intel card is present. Rebranding tends to confuse the Windows drivers and cause BSOD. USB WiFi works pretty well on Windows.

Keep us updated on your progress, rebranding the card and I will do the same if I manage to get another one. I have rebranded a 9285 to an intel 6205 to bypass my lenovo whitelist. It was all done in windows and confirmed after, that all ID's matched. The only thing I didn't think of was the REV number of the card. Make sure you check that while you are rebranding it the first time. Recovering one of these cards is extremely difficult after such a rebranding, so you will need to get it right while your are doing it the first time.

Well the card arrived today ... still waiting on the adapter (different seller).
Unable to verify any revision info as every card I've seen that is this atheros card seems to be Rev 01 so I can't even compare a couple of eeprom dumps to find what to change to Rev 83 I'm hoping that Lenovo isn't going to get down to that level.

I didn't spend any time trying to get WiFi to work in Linux after flashing (and surprisingly Linux didn't panic attempting to use Intel drivers on the Atheros card).
I booted into windows and it too had no issues ... just had an unknown network controller... I tried a couple of times to get the Atheros drivers to work with the card but I gave up as I really don't intend to use Windows [or Linux] with this WiFi card.

Now I wait for the adapter cable to come before I can see if I pass the Lenovo whitelist checking (I really hope I do) then will start mucking around with DSDT and fakepciid for the intel -> atheros modification.

I didn't spend any time trying to get WiFi to work in Linux after flashing (and surprisingly Linux didn't panic attempting to use Intel drivers on the Atheros card).
I booted into windows and it too had no issues ... just had an unknown network controller... I tried a couple of times to get the Atheros drivers to work with the card but I gave up as I really don't intend to use Windows [or Linux] with this WiFi card.

Now I wait for the adapter cable to come before I can see if I pass the Lenovo whitelist checking (I really hope I do) then will start mucking around with DSDT and fakepciid for the intel -> atheros modification.

Fingers crossed. Mine was exactly the same as the intel that came with my lenovo. The only difference was the rev number. It did not pass the whitelist. I hope yours does but I have my doubts
 
Well I was able to bypass the whitelist with that modification.
I did have to remove the built in battery to allow for space inside the laptop for the card not really a big deal though.

Now I need some help with the DSDT changes and getting the card picked up as an atheros card....
