Ok, the Show us your system was a cool topic, so I am expanding it here. Everybody who can should: Post a picture of the inside of their system, post a picture of the exterior (so we can see what the case actually looks like outside of an ad), and all of the specs for their system, and finally, a rating (out of ten) for your system, and a small description for why you rated it that way.

I hope this can turn out to be a nice guide for what to expect if a build is built by someone, and to show off the hackintoshes created by users on this forum.

Have fun!

Tom

It might help to quantify that 1-10 rating if we could agree to include a standard way of reporting performance. Geekbench 32/64, Xbench, Cinebench, others?

This idea is great- if anyone wants to expand their system info for the User Builds section- loosely in the format of the existing ones in the Pre-Installation/User Builds forum, post here first, and I'll transfer the confirmed builds over there. ;)

I was thinking that this thread might (once users can post builds) become a 'navigator' for the user-builds section, to give people and idea in one place about what the build is like, if they want to build.

I was thinking Geekbench, ease of use, fps rates, ease of install, and satisfaction with the results as opposed to what the user thought.

All should get their own 1-10 rating, with an average rating to sum it up.

Something I think would be useful is what users would change on their system if they started their build over today. For example would you change the motherboard, CPU, or graphics card or would you leave it the same.

This post is entitled, How to reuse stuff AND how to build the ugliest, most boring looking Hack possible!

The case is an old generic PC case I had with a Pentium 3 in it before I gutted it to turn it into a Hackintosh.

Inside: (note the cable manageme.... oh wait)

Outside! (note the lovely color scheme)

What I would change:
I'd probably go with the G.Skill Eco everyone recommends these days.
Also, I plan to upgrade to a SATA Hard disk sometime in the near future.

What still doesn't work:
Audio in a Windows VM (Parallels 5), when I overclock. It works great at the stock frequency.

My Rating: 8?

Explanation:
This system, now that I've got everything working, really is pretty nice. Obviously it's not a top-of-the-line system, but I rarely do anything that will need 100% of a dual core 3GHz processor. The 9800 GT seems to be a really decent graphics card. At least compared to what I'm used to, GMA 950 in my Macbooks. It handles all the gaming I've tried so far without a hiccup, even when playing in a Windows virtual machine in Parallels 5!

It took me probably a month or so to actually get everything to working condition, probably because I didn't start by using a DSDT. I recommend that anyone who can, should start off using a DSDT if they can, it makes stuff work easier!

I decided many would become depressed talking about it, so I left that out. Remember, I came up with this idea while doing laundry.
