Random Kernel Panics (while at sleep) after moving to a new case

Status
Not open for further replies.
Didn't need much time to see another kernel panic. Step after boot:
  1. boot the machine
  2. open a few apps
  3. hit sleep
  4. wait for a minute
  5. wake the machine
  6. the screen did show the os as I left, but a second after the system rebooted with a kernel panic

As it seems to be file system related you should test with all other drives and any USB devices disconnected.
If it still panics I would suggest a new clean installation.

I'll try to disconnect drives and usb devices then. @P1LGRIM Can I simply disable the drive on the BIOS instead of physically disconnect it?

I made a suggestion - The choice is yours.

It would be a blind choice, since I've no idea if disable drives on BIOS vs unplug the cable would have the same effect... but in case of doubt I guess that physically disconnect is the safest option here.
I dimly remember a post from a long time ago where a similar problem was caused by the network interface, you might try with that disabled (in BIOS) too.

Update: I've followed @P1LGRIM advice and disconnected all HD's, leaving only the boot disk. All usb's are disconnected, only left mouse and keyboard connected to the mother board USB2 interface.

I still notice the very slow boot. There is aprox 1minute after the BIOS log until I can see the boot log appear.

My issue is not 100 reproducible, at least I cannot find a way to do it. I'll try to leave it as it is and see if tomorrow as any kernel.

During this afternoon I did change settings and lucky or not I didn't had any other kernel panic:
before:
Screen Shot 2018-09-14 at 01.35.24.png
now:
Screen Shot 2018-09-14 at 01.34.22.png
Not sure if this was relevant.

About the boot time P1LGRIM was right, this was due to having verbose + debug options enable on boot. Once I ticked those off the boot is very fast!

Now the only problem remaining is to be sure where those kernel panic come from. To sum up what I have now:

- all usbs are disabled
- all drives are disconnected (only os is enable)
- changed clover settings (many things went here, and I've no clue of most part)
- changed system preferences>energy saver (as showed on the picture above)

Until now no kernel panic. I will leave it for now, but I'm not sure what should I do next.

Verbose mode should not have any significant impact on boot times and is useful for problem diagnosis.
Debug as you have discovered will considerably slow things down as it writes to a log file.

I will leave it for now, but I'm not sure what should I do next.
Test and once you are sure that the panics have stopped you can add the things that you disconnected one at a time until you find the cause.
