RAM configurations

I am wondering about RAM configurations.

Currently I have 8GB (4 x 2GB) running on an old 2010 install of 10.6 running on a GA-P55A-UD3. I would like to upgrade this board to 16GB, and then transfer the memory over to a new board when support for Haswell is finalized.

Am I better off buying 2 x 8GB, or is it okay to go with the slightly cheeper 4 x 4GB?

Should work, because both boards will use DDR3 Ram. To work with Haswell it should be at least 1600MHz Ram.
2 or 4 Dimms doesn't matter!

I was looking at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428 G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 1600 which is $53 ($106) today.

They are looking fine.
Personally I am not a big fan of RAM with heatsinks, because they are unnecessary and make the RAM too high. Be careful, some really larger CPU cooler might not fit.
