Question About Upgrading From Yosemite To Big Sur or Monterey

Just a big thanks and a follow up to my last challenge.
Looks like all I needed was to move the SATA cables to SATA Xpress ports.
Apparently I originally had them plugged into the Marvell ports and didn't have Marvell engaged in the BIOS.
That change made my day and I could get to work.

Many thanks for all of the guidance.

So are things look very good and are working pretty fine.

Again many thanks for the guidance.

Greetings folks,

I have a question.
I vaguely recall reading something about Big Sur, USB and avoiding system updates.
I am currently on Big Sur - 11.5.1 and I'd like to know if there are reasons why I shouldn't
use Software Update to update to the latest iteration of Big Sur?

Many thanks.

As long as you have a full bootable back up of your EFI and drive there is no reason not to give it a go.

Check that you have updated OC and is working fine, then make sure you have a way of getting back to the version you are on now, once done, upgrade and test. Any issues you can ask here or roll back.

I have a second drive I use for such tests.
