Thanks! :)

I've got Easter break from school this week and for my next update I would need a tool from school. So I first need to get back to school, obtain the tool, do the work and then update my project log! :)

However, what I'm planning on doing will turn out nice! ;) So keep your eyes open for any upcoming updates!

Re: Project: G5 Unlocked. Updated 17/4!

Hi everyone!

Now there's a little "on the fly" update on the first page.
To find the new update please use your browsers search function and search for "Update 17/4" to start reading.

As I mentioned in my update my girlfriend has gone to Australia for three months which gives me a bit more time to work on my project! So expect the updates to be more frequent from now on, wonderful!

Take care and enjoy all readers!
Best Regards

Love that white sleeving <3 nice work

Re: Project: G5 Unlocked. Updated 17/4!

Correct me if I'm wrong but with the PSU it looks like there might be room to just leave the 2x 60mm Fans in front normally mounted, and then place a squirrel cage fan on it's side inside the rear of the case for exhaust?

There seems to be plenty of space inside the PSU, just not in the vertical direction.

Thanks a bunch! I'm excited to sleeve the whole PSU and see how it looks then. "Unfortunately" the 24pin and the 8pin will barely be visible, I don't know if that's a good or bad thing now when I'm sleeving? Haha, I guess both! They aren't visible but I'm not getting any sleeving showed then!

Thanks for the tip, I've heard it before as well but aren't these "Squirrel Cage Fan" very noisy? If you know any small enough and not too noisy please do share :)

Thanks!

I think there was actually one included in the orig G5 case. Just downvolt it or put it on a rheostat.

You'll need some kind of wall so that you're only pulling hot air through the PSU and exhausting the rest out the back. But you might even be able to fit 2 of those fans in the PSU side by side.

Also, even if they're only moving a little bit of air, with the fans up front too it should be enough. or so I would think. Might want to also set the fans on a pad to help keep 'em quiet.

I'm doing my own G5 mod and I'm going to try to keep all the compartments in tact like the orig. G5.

Re: Project: G5 Unlocked. Updated 1/5!

Thank you for the pictures of your sleeving! After I saw your pictures, I want to make that too!

I just can't decide with color I should choose for sleeving. I'm thinking about a combination of Titanium Gray (http://de.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/sleeve/sleeve-small-titanium-grau.htm) and white (http://de.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/sleeve/sleeve-small-weiss.htm), because my mainboard is black and the G5 case is gray. What do you think about this color combination? Need help

Are you going to sleeve all cables?

Edit: I've seen on your last picture, that your 8 pin cable is gray. Which gray is this? Is it this one? http://de.mdpc-x.com/mdpc-sleeve/sleeve/sleeve-small-grau.htm

About the colors, I was also to go with gray at first, but then I decided I wanted to use paracord and my sponsor didn't have grey paracord, so I went with white instead.

But sure I do think titanium grey and white will mix good together, so go with that! :)

About the last picture, 8pin is also white sleeving, it's just the lightning wasn't the best in my room when I took the picture so the 8pin had shadows over them, therefor they look a little grayish! :p

But you are going with regular plastic-sleeve and not paracord, right? :)
