pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

For a really, really long time, I have not put my hackintosh kexts in L/E.....I've always put them in EFI/Clover/Kexts/, sometimes in the directory for the actual macOS version, but more recently always in EFI/Clover/Kexts/Other........and I also seem to have less problems as a result......so only in E/C/K/macOS version or E/C/K/Other, and never anywhere else.

I agree /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/ works really well for me. Zero problems.

Can you think of anything in the BIOS that could be a problem? Thanks

No. Have you tried disabling hibernate and Power Nap?

Try booting in verbose mode to see where it gets stuck.

Idk who dmdccc is or where his/her EFI folder is.

Typically, you just take an EFI folder and copy it to the EFI partition of your boot drive.

Yes, EFI is an acronym. It stands for Extensible Firmware Interface. It is also the name of the folder which contains most (or all) of the stuff that makes macOS run on non-Apple hardware.

If you are having a lot of trouble installing macOS to your PC, you can always try:
  1. (1) Doing a clean install from your Mac or (2) clone your existing system drive from your Mac to a new drive.
  2. Copy a working EFI folder to the EFI partition of the new drive.
  3. Transplant the drive back to your PC.

So i modified the clover plist to boot in verbose and that works fine. I cant seem to get verbose mode going when installing OS X however I was able to show log, unfortunately I cant save it because it freezes. The issue seems to happen when nodes are assigned. I get (manually copied from screen):

UID: 0, EUID: 0, GID: o, EGID: 0, PID 584, Proc: osinstallersetupd
ODSessionRelease request, SessionID: 228CAF0E-4DE3-8526-D75003918DD0
ODSessionRelease completed

then freeze.

I don't know what that refers to.

Z390 is different... Not sure if your motherboard can reboot correctly or if USB is fully functional with my EFI. At the very least, you should install EmuVariableUefi-64 and RC scripts as that seems to be a requirement for all Z390 at the moment.

Is XHCi handoff supposed to be disables in bios?

I don't remember. I'm not at my desktop right now... I think I have it enabled. Please see post #1.

When you say “my efi”. What are you referring to and where can I get it?

I am using same board as you I think. And where do I get those scripts and how do I install? Do you a link to a post that explains this?

My EFI folder is attached to post #1.

You are using a Z390 motherboard. I'm using a Z370 motherboard. Z390 is, at least for the moment, more difficult to get macOS running well.

You can use the Clover installer or MultiBeast installer to install EmuVariableUefi-64 and RC scripts. The MultiBeast installer can be found in the download section of this site. The Clover installer can be found at:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/cloverefiboot/

Post #1 has a lot of information that you should read.

Ah ok, maybe I should try another DP.
But I don't think that it will help me with the coil whine problem.

In Windows 10 I have no problems with coil whine so I would say that the card is ok... annoying :D
I think the fan patch kext thing decrease the core clock too?
Because that is the solution for my coil whine problem.
I decreased the core clock and now it's quiet.
Just for someone who has the same problem (and uses a watercooling solution).
