Hey all.

I've recently purchased a Mercury Rack Pro from OWC and have it connected to my Hackintosh via SATA. It's a 4 bay 5.25" hard drive enclosure, but OSX is only recognizing the first bay's hard drive. Anyone familiar with how to get all 4 bays recognized?

Thanks for the help.

I think you'll find that enclosure works either in:
  • RAID mode, as a single device via eSATA, FW, or USB.
  • JBOD ("independent") mode, where you see separate devices. This needs SATA PM (port multiplier) support in the host SATA controller and device driver.
I've had trouble getting PM devices recognised properly, and I suspect your host controller doesn't support it.

Yes I think that's the answer. I've drifted away from trying to get PM working (only one 2-disk dock which I've decided isn't urgent) but certainly getting a SATA controller that you know PM works on in OS X should be the easy solution.
