OSX Mavericks / ASUS G750JX - INSTALLATION GUIDE

Anyone tried Yosemite on this laptop with just unibeast and multibeast? I just got the laptop and was considering just trying that first and hope that it worked without any mods. otherwise, I'd go with Mavericks and this guide.

Also, was a video ever made of all the steps. I prefer that to written as it can sometimes be confusing when following written instructions.

Thanks.

I tried on G750JW. I patched kernel like mentioned here for Yosemite:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...-locked-msrs-hp-envy-15-j063cl-i7-4700mq.html

After the patches automatic reboot stop, but I wasn't able to reach installation screens.

There is screen from verbose mode:

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

System: manufacturer/model
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Make sure you created your USB with "Laptop Support" and without "Legacy USB"

Remove /Extra/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext
Add GenericUSBXHCI.kext to /Extra/Extensions on the USB: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Generic-USB3
Update VoodooPS2Controller.kext at /Extra/Extensions on the USB: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller

Boot with flags:
dart=0 nv_disable=1 -v

Post photo if it stops. Be patient. Booting the OS X installer is not quick.

Just wanted to post an update.

A couple of us really made ASUS G750JX work 100% flawless.

Thanks go to: cruzin_cruzing, Areosjc, gazzacbr, EMlyDinEsH, Pike, Rehabman for their mods, scripts and kexts and helping with diagnosing, understanding some issues. I'm sure there are a few more people I might be missing.

Here's the list of everything.

1. We have BIOS 209 patched for unlocked MSR so the OSX Native management works out of the box (no need for kernel patching)

2. Screen brightness works

3. Bluetooth 4.0 and Wifi 2.4/5ghz works

4. Power management works natively - no patching (using iMac 14,2 smbios)

5. Full support for GTX 770m with the new 10.9.3 Nvidia drivers.

6. Keyboard brightness and FN keys work (Modified AsusFBNKeys kext and ApplePS2ElanTouchpad.kext)

7. As vanilla install as possible (No need for GenericXHCI kext and patching Advanced PowerManagement etc)

8. There is a variant with Clover (5ghz patch included in the config.plist) and the Chameleon boot from the HDD

9. DSDT/SSDTs available for that great working system

10. Audio is working flawlessly with modified AppleHDA to include the bass support and clear sound (no more VoodooHDA)

11. Battery management and monitoring works great and properly

12. Elan Touchpad working flawlessly with all gestures.

Now, I personally still use kernel patching due to the high risk of bricking the laptop with BIOS but if you want to try you can definitely give it a go. The BIOS is patched from the latest 209 bios from ASUS.

This ASUS G750JX-DB1 is the most complete and working Hackintosh laptop I've worked with so far. Everything works pretty much like the real Mac Book Pro (except AirPlay but we use AirParrot for that and it works great).

ASUS G750JX-DB1 has the following specifications hardware wise:

I'm including the ioReg and other files so people can study the system if they need to

I will be posting a new tutorial that will cover everything new, have all the files available for folks to use just need to find some time this week.

If you want to look for the process as we all went through you can look up the thread here (towards page 20+):plea
