Now I'm just using the external display (lid closed):

Code:
[FONT=Menlo]
[/FONT][FONT=Menlo]zoltankr$ ioreg -lw0 | grep IODisplayPrefsKey

[/FONT]
[FONT=Menlo]"IODisplayPrefsKey" = "IOService:/AppleACPIPlatformExpert/PCI0@0/AppleACPIPCI/GFX0@2/AppleIntelFramebuffer@3/display0/AppleDisplay-4c2d-21e"
[/FONT]

The identifier for the external screen is "4c2d-21e". I found the DisplayVendorID-4c2d folder inside /System/Library/Displays/Overrides.

But there is no "DisplayProductID-21e". It looks like the external display is missing the EDID completely. Philip Petev's EDID script only work for the built-in Probook screen.

You're right. But I'm also unable to change refresh rate. I was able to use 75Hz in Mountain Lion. I think something is wrong with EDID. Just wondering, is it possible to generate EDID for the external display?

Sorry for bothering you and thank you for your support. It is greatly appreciated.

Post ioreg with external monitor connected: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/58368-guide-how-make-copy-ioreg.html

EDID is in your ioreg:
Code:
00 ff ff ff ff ff ff 00 4c 2d 1e 02 30 32 41 48 18 11 01 03 80 2b 1b 78 2a ee 95 a3 54 4c 99 26 0f 50 54 bf ef 80 b3 00 81 80 81 40 71 4f 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 21 39 90 30 62 1a 27 40 68 b0 36 00 b1 0f 11 00 00 1c 00 00 00 fd 00 38 4b 1e 51 10 00 0a 20 20 20 20 20 20 00 00 00 fc 00 53 79 6e 63 4d 61 73 74 65 72 0a 20 20 00 00 00 ff 00 48 53 34 50 36 30 30 34 33 38 0a 20 20 00 5d

You could probably add custom resolutions with SwitchResX.

Thanks! What resolution do you use?

I have a 4530s with a 1080p display. And my external for the ProBook is a Dell U2410 @1920x1200.

Note: I use my desktop most of all, it has a 2 monitors: A Dell U3011 @2560x1600 and Dell 2001FP @1200x1600 rotated portrait.

Thank you!

I need to hold the option key while clicking on the "scaled" radio button, then all resolutions and refresh rates are available :thumbup:

That is hilarious. There goes Apple again... hiding stuff to "make it easier to use." LOL!
