OS X 10.10.3 Update

Hello everyone again -

I am totally confused - I had a working multiboot system with windows 7 and 10.10.2 - and it booted well off each. I downloaded the 10.10.3 update and applied it and the system will only boot OSX from the hd chimera when the win 7 hd is disconnected. With Windows 7 hd connected it will boot to that system when selected. If I try to boot OSX with windows 7 connected the system crashes immediately.

If I plug in the USB with unibeast, I can boot to both.

Any suggestions?

EMjay96 -

I tried chimera 4.1 - and no go - just goes blank and when I boot with -v it just quits at the kernel - but without the win7 plugged in, it will boot.

Chimera 4.0.1 will boot the system but it crashes immediately with windows 7 hd plugged in and will boot with it unplugged. the Unibeast USB lets me boot both.... but windows 7 boots when osx crashes. I put on -v in the boot and it crashes on the kernel load but there must be something with chimera when it installs. I can't install it with both drives in because it won't boot to osx.

But like I said - it WILL boot from BOTH with Unibeast USB. It has to be something simple that I'm missing.

When I first applied this update, I got the dreaded "Stop" symbol on my boot screen. But then I remembered that I had hacked AppleAHCIPort.kext to boot in RAID mode. Switched to back to AHCI briefly, re-applied the hack, enabled TRIM thanks to tonymacx86's post #55, and I'm back in business. Apparently this update also replaces AppleAHCIPort.kext, maybe part of that NVME support? I'm glad I read up on it before diving in.

the freezing sounds like it could be an SMBios issue. going thru this thread alot of people needed to change it.

I'm having the same issue with my GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK. Random freezes after a couple of minutes. Trim look like it's set according to the system report. I checked my BIOS for VT-D disabled along with virtualization.

GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK
Core i5-4690K
GTX 970 with latest nvidia drivers

The freezing issue started happening after the 10.10.3 update. I also reran Multibeast with the updated Trim patch. My system def is whatever the out of box Multicast setting is, 13,1 I think.

I instinctively installed this one without remembering I'm not on Apple hardware. But, I got lucky and everything works well for me.

I use clover and a bunch of kernel patches. Enabling ATi video, TRIM, audio etc. All remained functional after boot. I haven't had any serious problems of any kind.

The only issue I've seen so far is the HWMonitor icon on the menu bar is blank. Edit: see
esafeddieie's post 20 below for the fix.

Funny things is it's obvious that he is using the Settings -> General -> Use Dark Menu Bar and Dock

Funny because the stock icon is black duu you can't see it ._.

Fix click the blank space (Guys No Taylor Swift Here:think:) until a HWMonitor Shows Up On the Top Right Click the Nice Shiny Settings button then you go to MenuBar then see and look at the HW Monitor Icon or Thermometer (Because it has color) and drag it over to menubar items

Guys This might not work but it works for me so but if it doesn't turn off the dark bar thingy

Quick note to All:

I installed 10.10.3 and the DP of my R9280X didn't work. HDMI worked at native resolution, but with what I call 'blocky' fonts, which I'd experienced before when not using DP. My display is a B296CL, 2560X1080.

DP works with display mirroring and HDMI as primary, but again with blocky fonts. I thought about playing with System Definitions, but since I've applied the EFI partition hack to deal with the 'HD 7xxx' legacy boot issue, I pulled the rip cord; long live Carbon Copy Cloner and back to 10.10.2 until motivated. Haven't had much luck with Clover here despite two decades of professional systems and development experience.

YMMV, Cheers.

P.S. Should have mentioned I'm using iMac 13,2, which supports full acceleration of the R9280X and draws less current than Pro 3,1.

Did you try the Mac Pro that has it or you could try the iMac15,1 (iMac 5k) SMBIOS Because me i had no problems and no blocky stuff
(If you don't need nullcpumanagment problems is i am not sure if you CPU is supported or not so you might need to null it or hack the iMac 13,2 SMBIOS and copy the stuff over to it from the 5k iMac 15,1 and then replace the CPU Part of it )

I can't boot after updating and I tried safe mode, no caches and also nv_disable=1 in clover. Then I even removed the video card and not successful either.
I have a GTX 750. Permissions were OK before and after.
10.10.2 was working very well...

I have a grey spinning wheel just below the apple logo.
