I haven't had to 'replace' kexts before. Will it overwrite the old one or should I be finding, deleting, and reinstalling it? My sound randomly stopped working a few days ago, several others are having the same issue with my board. ud5h 898.
You did everything right for the wrong audio codec. This thread is for the 885 (also labeled as the 889a). You have the 889. Change the layou-d to 0x79, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00 and install MultiBeast/Patched AppleHDA/ALC 889.
